A glimpse inside EECS: Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at Marin Academy⚡ In this course, students explore the electronic devices developed over the past 150 years and examine how scientists, engineers, and inventors have applied the physics of electricity and magnetism to spark major societal change. Day 39 of Learning Robotics! While I’m still waiting for parts to arrive for my cycloidal drive, I started playing with my brushless motor. I need to tune the motor controller to get the most out of my hardware but learning the math and science behind this stuff has been such a fun experience. ⚡ Behind the Scenes: Electro-Mechanical Technology 🤖 We stepped into the Electro-Mechanical Technology labs this week and say the gears turning and ideas flying as students focused on their projects this semester. First-year students were working hands-on in a controlled simulator environment, building foundational skills in circuits and wiring while learning to troubleshoot system. In the second-year lab, we found next-level automation. We watched a 3D printer in action, students programming and jogging industrial robots, and others running RS Logix 5000 at the conveyor stations. We saw students troubleshooting a custom-built vending machine, working inside electrical cabinets, and even checked out a go-kart designed and built by students themselves. 🚗 This Associate Degree program prepares students to work at the intersection of mechanical systems, electronics, and industrial automation. From PLCs, sensors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics to robotics and process control, students gain real-world experience to interpret technical drawings, and keep complex machinery running efficiently. Industrial maintenance. Automation. Advanced manufacturing. This is where hands-on learning meets high demand careers.
