Kaytranada is a Haitian-Canadian beat maker, record producer, rapper and DJ. In 2016, he released his critically acclaimed debut studio album ’99.9%’. Being so linked to his own perfectionism, he titled the album as an ode to this trait. There were times he said to himself he was done with it then he thought, ‘No, there’s something wrong with that track, I gotta fix it’ and it came to the point where he had to go through the whole album again. In 2019, he released his follow-up album ‘BUBBA’ for which he won 2 Grammy Awards, including Best Dance/Electronic Album. Kaytranada has made music with industry greats like Anderson .Paak, Syd, Estelle, Pharrell Williams and Dua Lipa. After releasing ‘BUBBA’, Kaytranada received an email from Tyler, The Creator, who said he was upset that he had not been featured on the album. His production style and beats have become so recognizable that industry wannabes have created tutorials and how-to videos on how to recreate a ‘Kaytranada beat style’. Bob Marley & The Wailers. Song: Buffalo Soldier. 1983. I appreciate the pioneers of a music genre like Bob Marley did for Reggae that can also so closely be associated with chill beach music. Released two years after Marley’s death, this song was one of the last that he recorded. Issued as a single, it reached #4 on the UK charts, where Marley had as much success posthumously as he did when he was alive: seven more released charted after this one. Marley wrote this song with fellow Jamaican, Noel Williams, who went by the name King Sporty. Williams was an inventive creator of dance music, blending reggae and disco on his 1975 track “Music Maker,” and impelling the Miami bass sound as a producer of tracks like “Funky Fresh Beat” by Youth MC’s, released in 1986. #music #bestsongs #reggae #bobmarley #jamaican #rasta #80s #beachmusic

Legendary Oregon artist Eunice Parsons died last November at the age of 108, leaving behind a lifetime of groundbreaking work. “I knew early on, even from kindergarten, that I wanted to be an artist,” she told Oregon Art Beat in 2012. She put that vision on hold as she raised a family, but it came roaring back when she enrolled in the Museum Art School at age 34. It was, she said, when “life began. I walked on air for a whole year, just three feet up, my feet never touched the ground.” Parsons became an accomplished painter and print maker.
