The Taking of Deborah Logan Directed by Adam Robitel 2014 A PHD student travels to Virginia with a film crew to make a documentary on an elderly woman’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. When her Alzheimer’s symptoms aggressively accelerate, causing her to start acting out and harming herself the woman’s daughter and doctor struggle to understand the cause. The woman soon begins having episodes that reveal secrets from her past, and uncover the true cause of her rapid change. The Taking of Deborah Logan is a found footage supernatural horror film that brings a fresh take on possession. Most possession movies have a pretty standard path that ends in a predictable exorcism, but this one creatively strays from the predictable path and it pays off in a big way. The possessor, the cause and the purpose of the possession are all fresh and really suck you in and get you invested. There’s dread, there’s jump scares, there’s gore, there’s mystery, you name it this one has it. Honestly I can’t really think of a bad thing to say about this one.
