I’ve been working on playing lines by starting with the first handful of notes until the root note C. That’s the Doc Watson sounding bit, and then after that, you can do whatever. Best of luck! I find this tricky to play sped up, but its a work in progress.

Try this harmony challenge. Root note → 3rd harmony. Root note → 5th harmony. Save it and practice to test your ear daily :) #singertips #harmonysinging #harmonies #choir #backingvocal

Want this free backing track? Comment 5 and I’ll send it to you 👇 Moving beyond the root note can feel overwhelming. I remember a time when just hitting the right note on time felt like a miracle. What made the difference for me was one simple hack. Not overwhelming. Very effective. And surprisingly liberating. In this reel, that’s exactly what I’ll show you. If you want to make the most out of your practice time, comment 5 and I’ll send you the exact backing track + PDF I’m using here. See you next time ❤️

If you want to start improvising and writing basslines: 1. Find a backing track that you like on YouTube 2. Play the root notes 3. Start with playing the fifth and the octave of each root note 4. Think of a cool bassline in your head, and then use the scale (whatever key you’re in) to find the notes and adapt the idea to each root note 5. Jam #bass #basslesson #basslessons

Comment “PDF” for your FREE guide to all the close-voicing triads that you can play on the guitar fretboard. There are two ways you can move vertically across the string sets with triads... Option 1 - keep the same VOICING (R-3-5) and the Root note will change. Moving up towards the ceiling the Root note will move down a perfect fourth (C-G-D-A). Option 2 - Keep the same ROOT (C) and the voicing will change. Dropping the highest note in pitch down an octave creates a different way to play the same triad. CAGED is HUGE here. Hope that helps! One of the easiest piano exercises you can practice every single day as a beginner to master your piano chords! This piano lesson shows you an easy piano exercise that teaches you your different piano chord triads such as major minor augmented and diminished as well as the inversions. Practicing this everyday will improve your chord playing and music theory knowledge as you start to recognize the notes of the chord as well as the inversions. This also helps with recognizing your major and minor intervals from the root note. Beginners should practice this slowly focusing on one chord type per day and its inversions. For example only practicing the C major and its inversions. Intermediate and advanced players can work through multiple chords and keys in one practice session! #easypiano #musictheory #pianolessons #beginnerpiano #pianopractice

Day 27. Learning some keyboard is a secret weapon for bass players. If you’re ever lost on stage, glancing at the keyboardist’s left-hand pinky finger can show you the root note, helping you navigate the song in a tight spot. Plus, learning keys strengthens your grasp of harmony and chord tones, an asset to any musician. #BassTips #KeyboardSkills #Musicianship #Harmony #BassPlayer

🌌 Maj7sharp5 from the melodic minor universe - I really like to practice those kind of chord pairs in lines too - hit me up with any question - also I was really lucky to hit that root note in the end so that it even made me look a bit happy 😂 . . . #jazzguitar #chords #guitarra #guitarlessons #guitar

There’s 2 different ways to play and conceptualize the modes, and you need to learn and practice both. To really unlock the fretboard, focus on playing the modes in relative, playing all of the modes of / in one key. This will help you map out each key across the whole neck. To go deeper into the theory and learn about the sound that each mode makes and its intervals, practice the modes in parallel. Play all 7 modes from the same root note, and notice how each one sounds in comparison to a major or minor scale. Good luck! #bass #basslesson #musictheory

Here’s an idea taken from my course, TRIAD5: INSID3 OUT - Scale patterns as Root Note maps for your chord progressions. Here’s an example in the key of C major using close-voicing triads on string set 1 (GBE). This is such a powerful concept which will help you visualise exactly where you can source your triad shapes for rhythm playing, or indeed when approaching soloing with arpeggio shapes. For the complete rundown on triads, you should check out TRIAD5: INSID3 OUT or my eBook ‘The Chord Book: Volume 1’ (link in bio) 🙏🏻 … #guitarlesson #guitarlessons #learningguitar #guitartheory #guitartheorylessons #guitarmusictheory
