Here are the must learn skills and programs for incoming engineering students! #engineeringstudent #youngengineers #engineeringschool #engineeringmajor #chemicalengineering #engineeringfreshers

With AI disrupting industries left and right, is there a future for students going through engineering school right now? The data is in for the post-AI-disrupted world, and I'm breaking down which fields are still a good call for #engineeringstudents (and which aren't!) As always, the very best thing you can do for your education is to get as much student experience as possible before graduating. Start early and learn as much as you can along the way. Want help? I’m a 3.9 GPA Mechatronics Engineering student and most people make this degree way harder than it needs to be. Here are the 5 biggest wake-up calls I’ve had: save this and follow for more❤️ 1. It’s not all “Porsches and Mansions”💸 The “rich engineer” trope is a lie. You aren’t getting mansions and Ferraris fresh out of school. You’re getting a high-floor, stable, upper-middle-class life in the suburbs. It’s a great life, but if you’re here for “overnight wealth,” you’re in the wrong building. 2. Your “struggle” is a choice😓 Stop romanticizing how hard your classes are. The more you tell everyone “this is so hard,” the more you’re just pre-gaming your own failure. Complaining is just a cope for mediocrity. Other people mastered this material; you can too. Change your internal dialogue, and watch how much easier things get. 3. If you’re weak, you’re losing💪 You cannot build a high-performance brain on a low-performance body. Too many engineers look like they haven’t seen a gym in years. Don’t be that guy. If you aren’t pushing for a new PR in the gym, you aren’t reaching your peak cognitive performance in your classes. Physical discipline is the foundation of academic discipline. 4. All-nighters are for amateurs😴 Pulling an all-nighter isn’t a “grind”, it’s a failure of systems. It’s the least efficient way to work and it trains your brain to accept procrastination as a lifestyle. If you can’t manage a 24-hour day, you aren’t ready to manage a complex engineering project. Kill the cycle. 5. The “Golden Ticket” Degree👑 Just because you study Engineering doesn’t mean you have to be an Engineer. This is the most employable degree across all disciplines. Companies don’t just hire you for what you know; they hire you for the way you think. You’re taught how to solve complex problems and this is applicable to any field. Engineering is the ultimate foundation for any elite career path.

1. Underestimating the the amount of time you will need to dedicate - You probably ARE smart enough to be an engineer, but you might not put enough time into it as you should and that’s why lots of freshmen struggle. You should be prepared to put in 50 hours a week of pure engineering, and sometimes more. It’s a huge transition when you first start but trust me, you will get used to it and it will become normal- 2. Never learning HOW to study. - Studying is a skill. You can’t just read about it and immediately be good at it. Learn about all the methods (Pomodoro, feynman technique, etc) and then go actually do them. Learning these methods is great, but the only way you will get better at it is by doing it for hours per day. So go practice - 3. Sacrificing their entire social life - Don’t get me wrong, there will be a portion of your social life that you will have to sacrifice to be successful in engineering. However, a ton of engineering students (and a lot of men in general) believe that in order to be successful at something, you should neglect building relationships with people and completely put the hoodie on. Maybe there is a time and place for staying low and grinding, but make sure you’re not spending your whole life by yourself because success rarely happens alone. - 4. Not focusing on their body like they do with their brain. - I’m sick of the unhealthy skinny engineer trope. Too many engineers think they’re too busy to go to the gym because they somehow also end up spending hours and hours of reels and clash royal. Go to the gym for 45 minutes a day, set goals, and treat it like you do your classes. You will feel a whole lot better. - 5. Telling themselves its too hard - Yes engineering gets tough, but the more you tell yourself that it’s hard, the more excuses you give yourself to fail. Instead, tell yourself that because other people have done it, you can too. You will be amazed how your outcomes change. - Please consider a follow for more engineering ball knowledge! #engineeringstudent #engineering
