Stuck in a Moon Loop 🔂 🌕

Moon phases… but from a different perspective 🌖🌒 Soon, humans will travel to the far side of the Moon—and the view will be very different from what we see on Earth. From their vantage point, lunar phases appear reversed. If we see a waning gibbous Moon, the Artemis II crew will see a waxing crescent instead. During the mission, astronauts will test critical systems and operations, study how deep space travel affects the human body, and gather new insights about the Moon as they fly by. Mineral Moon 🌕

While capturing the Moon during daytime, a mysterious movement can sometimes be seen near or on its surface, creating a surprising and unusual moment. Even in daylight, powerful telescopes can clearly show the Moon and anything crossing in front of it. At first, it may look like something is actually moving on the Moon itself. But in reality, the Moon is mostly still, and such movement is usually not happening on its surface. In most cases, the object is actually much closer to Earth, such as a satellite, aircraft, or small space debris, and it only appears to move on the Moon because of alignment and perspective. This creates a visual effect where the object looks like it is touching or traveling across the lunar surface. This phenomenon is known as a lunar transit, and it usually lasts only a few seconds before the object disappears. Although it may seem mysterious, these events are natural and show how active the space around Earth really is. #space #spacex #nasa

The Moon 🌝 Phases :- Waxing crescent: As it moves in its orbit, a small sliver of the Moon becomes visible. It takes a crescent shape because of the Moon’s roundness; we only see the edge of the part that’s illuminated by the Sun, and that edge is on a round object so it appears curved. First quarter: This is when half of the Moon’s illuminated surface is visible from Earth. This is the equivalent of saying we are seeing one-quarter of the total Moon’s surface illuminated, hence the rather confusing name. Waxing gibbous: When more than half of the Moon’s surface visible from Earth is illuminated, we call it a Gibbous Moon. Full Moon: When the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, we see the entire near-side of the Moon illuminated. For the same reason we don’t have solar eclipses with every new Moon, we don’t get lunar eclipses with every full Moon. The Moon's orbit around the Earth is tilted by about five degrees, meaning sometimes it’s below our shadow and sometimes it’s above it. Waning gibbous: After the full Moon, the illuminated portion of the Moon visible from Earth begins to wane, or decrease in size. During the waning gibbous phase, the Moon’s surface visible from Earth is still mostly illuminated. Third quarter: This is when half of the Moon’s illuminated surface is visible from Earth. The illuminated part is the half of the near side of the Moon that was not illuminated at first quarter.
