If you’ve ever wondered why Sugars is so tiny and so hateful- it’s because she was unethically bred. Luckily she landed in a home where I am able to care for her extra needs and love her to pieces🪿 #DunkinDucks #Ducks #PetDucks #CallDucks #BackyardDucks #FarmAnimals

This kind of video is incredibly hard to make, I hope someone can find this helpful, please think of dippin dot right now, our hearts are broken, she is such a special duck

This is a very popular question that people ask me every day! “How can I tell if my ducks are male or female?” While there are other ways to tell, such as color and the drake curl, those are not always accurate, and the voice is usually the first indication on whether you have drakes or ducks. I hope this was helpful! 🎬 TT: @michaela_tfcminifarm #duck #ducks #callduck #babyduck #petduck

Oh how far we’ve come🥹 Maple, Mr Whip, Bubbles, Sugar, Raven, and Donut started out in this flock living in a rusty old shed with uneven rotting floors and no pen to keep them safe from predators. Today they live in an Amish build shed with an inground pond, room to fly, and a structure built to keep them safe from predators. Let this be a reminder that where you are now doesn’t have to be where you are forever.🦆❤️ #DunkinDucks #PetDucks #CallDucks #FarmAnimals #DuckPond #BackyardDucks

As a general rule of thumb, if temperatures drop below 15-20°F (-9- -6°C) I keep the ducks inside the coop. The coop is slightly warmer, draft free, well ventilated, and has a thick layer of hemp bedding and straw bales for them to sit on. I try to bring them treats to keep them entertained throughout the day- but for the most part they just sit around with their feet tucked into their feathers looking like adorable little bread loaves. They don’t mind the snow on the ground and their pond is heated to just above freezing- but wind can ruffle their feathers making them feel colder so I find it’s best to keep them in the coop on these super cold or windy days. Of course there are exceptions too- like Sugar who is staying inside my house right now because she gets cold much quicker than the rest of the flock due to having lifelong “wet feather” (a condition that causes her feathers to get wet & results in her not being able to regulate her body temperature as well as healthy ducks) 🪿 #DunkinDucks #Ducks #PetDucks #CallDucks #FarmAnimals

Even if your ducks might still grow up to be skittish with handling, it’s still important that you try to handle them routinely enough that it isn’t terrifying for them. At some point in their life handling will be necessary wether they are sick or injured and the more comfortable they are with it, the less stressful times like those will be on them!! #ducks #callducks #ducksofinstagram #petducks #homestead

Ducks MUST have water available when eating because they need it to swallow food properly. Unlike humans who produce saliva, ducks have very little saliva production and use water instead to moisten and soften food before swallowing. They take a bite of food, dip their bill in water, swish it around, then swallow. Without water, food gets stuck in their throat and they can choke. This is why you should NEVER feed ducks without water nearby, it’s dangerous. Ducks will frantically search for water if eating dry food without it available. They also use water to clean their nostrils and bill openings while eating, preventing blockages. Water isn’t just for drinking, it’s an essential part of their eating process. Always provide water and food together. Never offer food without water! Follow for proper duck care and feeding guides! #duckfacts #duckcare #eating #drinking #petducks
