A lot of landscapes are designed for quick impact. They’re filled fast, expected to perform immediately, and rely on constant input to keep them looking good. That approach doesn’t hold up for most of us. It isn’t rooted in place, and it doesn’t account for the extremes our landscapes are actually dealing with. I design slow, intentional gardens instead — landscapes that are ecologically grounded, built to withstand heat and weather, and meant to hold together over time. The goal isn’t instant gratification. It’s a garden that looks considered, feels cohesive, and doesn’t fall apart the moment conditions get tough.
