Seit ich Kinder habe, ist mein Tourette so stark wie seit über 25 Jahren nicht mehr. Und das überfordert mich manchmal mehr, als ich es mir eingestehen will. Weil ich so viel Arbeit in mich und in diese Erkrankung gesteckt habe. So viele Jahre, in denen ich gelernt habe, damit klarzukommen, mich anzunehmen, Strategien zu entwickeln, einen Umgang zu finden, der sich gut anfühlt. Und dann verändert sich mein Leben komplett. Wenig Schlaf, viel Stress, kaum Zeit für mich, kaum Raum für meine eigenen Bedürfnisse. Und auf einmal fühlt es sich an, als stünde ich wieder am Anfang. Was mich dabei am meisten trifft, sind nicht mal die Tics selbst. Es ist, dass ihre Intensität nicht mehr zu dem Bild passt, das ich von mir habe. Mein Selbstbild und die Realität gehen gerade so weit auseinander auseinander, dass ich mich schwach und hilflos damit fühle. Aber ich habe mich in meinem Leben schon zu oft für mich geschämt. Ich habe mich selbst versprochen mich nicht mehr vor mir selbst oder irgendwem anders zu verstecken. Ich zeige das nicht, weil ich Mitleid erwecken will.
