🐸 The Mission golden-eyed tree frog or Amazon milk frog (via: @spiderlady1000) is a large species of arboreal frog native to the Amazon Rainforest in South America. It is sometimes referred to as the “blue milk frog.” It was first discovered along the Maracanã River in Brazil. This species was previously within the genus Phrynohyas, which was recently synonymized with Trachycephalus. 🤓 These frogs are fairly large, reaching sizes of 2.5 to 4.0 in (6.4 to 10.2 cm) in length. Adult frogs are light grey in color with brown or black banding, while juveniles will exhibit stronger contrasts. As they age, their skin develops a slightly bumpy texture. 🥛 The "milk" in the common name comes from the milky fluid these frogs excrete when stressed. _____ #science #frog #frogs #amazonmilkfrog #milkfrog #nature #biology

Red eye tree frog waking up 🐸 just one of the species that’s sure to be at the next LA Pet Fair!

Tree frogs don’t use glue or suction to stick to surfaces. Their toes are covered with specialized pads made of microscopic cells separated by tiny channels. These channels spread a thin layer of moisture across the surface, creating friction and surface tension that allow the frog to grip smooth leaves, rough bark, and even glass. The pads also adapt to the shape of whatever the frog is climbing. This increases the contact area and stability, enabling the frog to cling upside down or move vertically without slipping. It is a clever combination of biology and physics working together. This ability is so effective that scientists study tree frog toe pads to design better climbing robots, medical adhesives, and non-slip materials that work without glue.

This White’s Tree Frog clearly lives by the “if I can’t see you, you can’t see me” rule 🐸😂. Fun fact: these little guys can live over 15 years in captivity and have a naturally chill, almost “smiling” face that makes them look like the zen masters of the amphibian world. Guess that explains why a gentle poke just makes him… turn away politely. #whitestreefrog #frog #funnyfrog #froglife #AmphibianAdventures #petfrog #frogram

A living jewel of the rainforest canopy! ✨🐸 Big-eyed tree frogs rely on their enormous eyes to see in the dark and their sticky toe pads to climb almost any surface. They spend their lives among the leaves, hidden from predators and close to their next meal. Just like these little acrobats need the perfect leafy habitat to thrive, our pets need a cozy, secure space where they can climb, hide, and feel completely safe. #TreeFrog #BigEyedFrog #RainforestAnimals #Amphibians #AnimalFacts #PetComfort #CozyPets #ClimbingPets #SafeSpace #NatureLovers

How cute 🥹. Agalychnis callidryas, also known as the red-eyed tree frog, is one of the most iconic tropical amphibians of Central America. Mainly nocturnal, this arboreal species inhabits humid rainforests of Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua. Its bright green body provides excellent camouflage among leaves, while its striking red eyes act as a defense mechanism by startling potential predators. An excellent climber, it spends most of its life in vegetation, rarely descending to the ground except for reproduction. Eggs are laid on leaves above water, allowing tadpoles to drop directly into aquatic environments once they hatch. A truly fascinating species, symbolizing tropical biodiversity and the delicate balance of rainforest ecosystems. #frogs #frog #reptile #amphibian #wildlife
