Wild Florida is a true treasure. It’s important that we visit and preserve the natural areas and historical landmarks that remain in our state. I am thrilled to be a part of the green conservation efforts in South Florida, including Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve where I am featured on a GoGreen Solar Powered Ecobin, a recycling project helping to keep Florida’s land and waterways trash free. GoGreen and Wilton Manors’ government officials are truly leaders in supporting recycling efforts. These dual purpose “green” ecobins offer advertising to support our local businesses while simultaneously providing an easy way for people to recycle their garbage while out enjoying nature. Richardson Park in Wilton Manors is a historical landmark in South Florida. This park was once home to Judge George Richardson, an influential pioneer of Wilton Manors. In the park, you will see the Carriage House which is the oldest property in Wilton Manors, built around 1925 and now a museum and cultural center. Also, on the property is the Manor House, which is available to rent for events. This charming park, adjacent to the Middle River, is not only an important landmark, but also a refuge for wildlife, including many beautiful birds, alligators, mangrove crabs and even manatees. Amidst gorgeous butterflies and native plants, there are peaceful trails as well as a captivating river boardwalk and dock. Let’s keep Florida beautiful and wild.
