New space, new energy. ✨ Playing with a little sequence here: Each shape carries a different quality of energy. Fallen triangle opens the body into something spacious and clear. The prayer twist brings a little heat and activation. Balancing figure four asks for grounding and steadiness. Yoga philosophy teaches that our energy is always moving between these kinds of qualities — sometimes open and bright, sometimes fiery and active, sometimes heavy and rooted. The practice is simply learning to notice the shift. You’ll be seeing more of me in this beautiful space next week. In addition to my regular schedule, I’ll be filling in for Leslie @absoluteyogastudio on Tuesday and Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing you on the mat! #balancebreathe #vinyasa #yogastrength #gunas #yogacommunity

People always say to me "I'm not flexible enough for yoga" but they are missing the point. Yoga is about meeting yourself where you are. It is arguably more about the mind than the body. Asana (physical practice of postures) is important and is the bulk of what you expect at a class with me, we also breathe mindfully through each pose with meditation prompts throughout and also some more structured pranayama (breath control) techniques and dhyana (meditation practice). In asana there is also elements of strength and balance. Strength, balance and flexibility are attributes we need in life mentally as well as physically, and through this hour practice, we meet ourselves where we are at, through the laughs the wobbles, the work we put in. Flexibility is a wonderful byproduct, and it feels soo good to get a stretch. It releases tension, and body parts can also be associated with emotions so many find emotions can be eased through the release of a good stretch. And my class often requests some nice stretches over a strong flow! Every class I work off a theme, whatever is going on astrologically with the moon or the time of year, or a yoga philosophy theme. We are working through the chakras at the moment but February is so significant we are concentrating on what's going on externally at the moment. I try my best to balance all the different aspects but if my class ask me for some nice stretches that is what they will get! And if your not flexible it will help you BECOME flexible and maybe on the way to touching your toes you realise yoga is something more than flexibility. My classes are small, intimate and beginner and more seasoned yogi friendly, if your feeling the call to practice other aspects of yoga or to try something new, we are at @ashawellness__ every Thursday 7-8pm £8 ♥️♥️♥️ #yogabelfast

🙏🥰🙏🥰🙏 #Ashtanga Yoga of #Patanjali literally means “ #eightlimbs “ and can be translated as the eight fold path, a guideline on how to live a spiritual life (with #purpose and #meaning ). Come practice with me on Sunday mornings online and learn more about yoga and how we can use it in our lives. Yoga is not just about Asana. If you are a yoga practitioner there should be some curiosity about the other limbs 😇 Here are the classical 8 limbs: 1. Yama (ethical codes) 2. Niyama (personal observances) 3. Asana (postures) 4. Pranayama (breath control) 5. Pratyahara (sense control) 6. Dharana (concentration) 7. Dhyana (meditation) 8. Samadhi (total peace) _ ꧁𝑎ℎ𝑖𝑚𝑠𝑎꧂ I chose a gentle flow into the strength of crescentlunge and balance of warrior3 because both of these standing asanas encourage a physical openness of the heart 💜 and deep focus to stay rooted while at the same time finding space to grow and expand. Felt fitting for today 💜

We are stepping into a new month and focusing on the theme of equilibrium. March invites us to find balance as we move through these early spring months and notice how we show up in our daily lives. Today is the 3/3 Portal, which is a significant time for alignment and release. In our somatic practice, this is a moment to settle into steady ground and notice the connection between our internal state and the world around us. I am sharing a sped up video of my 20-minute practice from this morning. It was a time for me to find my own sense of balance and prepare for the shifts this new month brings. As we navigate these transitions, I invite you to keep Self-Ahimsa in mind. This is the practice of non-violence toward your own boundaries. It means being truly kind to your limits and choosing to listen to what your body needs, rather than what you feel you "should" be doing. If you have felt the call to slow down or focus on your internal balance lately, you are exactly where you need to be 🧘♀️ How are you finding your equilibrium today? this is a little bit of what we have been practicing at advanced asana. to me it’s not boring to work on the same thing over and over again, it actually gets more interesting. Recently I actually find classes more boring that are constantly trying to impress me with new fancy combinations, but that is just me. Here is the sequence if you want to use it (there are lots of variations and additions but this is the base I work with): Opening mantra/prayer Surya a 3 times Surya b 3 times Meridian arm stretches Humble warrior Side plank/vashistasana Head stand/other inversion Side angle Bound forward twist Bird of paradise Half moon variations Standing split Vashistasana again Forearm stand/headstand Triangle Revolve triangle Pyramid Spread foot posture variations Frog or middle split Kapiasana Thigh stretch (toe to rib) Split (optional) Lizard Eka pada kudenasana Chin stand Pigeon Double pigeon Compass Astavakrasana Lotus Maha vedha kriya Narrow squat Toe squat Camel Lagovodrasana Capotasana Shoulder stand Plow Fish Seated meditation Shavasana Closing prayer

✧ DAY 44 — Viparīta Daṇḍāsana Inverted Staff Pose Sanskrit Breakdown • Viparīta = inverted • Daṇḍa = staff, spine • Āsana = posture Viparīta Daṇḍāsana = “the inverted staff posture” This advanced posture symbolized the suṣumṇā — the central channel of awakened energy. Let your body arc into its bridge and lengthen into its staff, as if forming a radiant pathway for truth to rise unimpeded through your throat. Affirmation “My voice rises through a clear and open channel.” #108dayactivation

Alignment isn’t just about stacking joints or finding the “perfect” shape. It’s about coming back into right relationship with your body, your breath, your values, and your becoming. On the mat this week, we explored what it means to align not just physically, but energetically and mentally as well. I encouraged students to lengthen where they’ve been compressed, to soften where we’ve been gripping, and to notice the subtle patterns that pull us off center. In yogic philosophy, alignment can be felt through the lens of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, where practice (abhyasa) and release (vairagya) work hand in hand. We commit to showing up a little each day, and we also practice surrendering deeper. Letting go of tension, old stories, and outdated identities that no longer fit the person we’re growing into. Stepping into alignment often requires clearing space and releasing the old belief systems and protective armor that once kept us safe, but now keep us constricted. True alignment feels steady and easeful, grounded and spacious. Its effort and surrender perfectly woven together in harmony. The practice is our mirror, and the body always tells the truth. If we listen closely enough, we begin to move in a way that reflects who we truly are becoming, both on and off the mat ✨ What are you ready to release so you can realign? #yogasequence #yogicphilosophy #yogateacher #yogainspo #slowflow

The pose is the destination. The transition is who we are. Triangle doesn’t happen because it’s imagined. It happens because it’s embodied. The stance widens — stability before depth. A block grounds the hand — intelligence over ego. The pelvis rotates toward front leg — happy hips. The bottom waist lengthens — refusal to collapse. The heart lifts — courage to be authentic. That’s the work. Not the still photo. Not the final angle. But the joints negotiating gravity. The nervous system organizing in real time. Alignment maintained while everything moves. Triangle isn’t held. It’s entered. It’s exited. It’s earned through transition. Life asks the same. When the ground shifts — widen. When balance wavers — accept support. When pressure builds — lengthen. When it would be easier to close — open. The pose is the milestone. The transition is who we become on the way there. #trikonasana #trianglepose #yoga #stabilityandfluidity #yogalife #yogateacher #yogaislife #yogaposes #yogasoup #jazminmentyoga #asana #changeistheonlyconstant

Daily practices of yoga … different choices for different days … intuitive and all a dedicated Sadhana… Both dynamic and restorative physical practices keep our system in balance… the shapes are dependent on what serves your individual body and as one of my lovely teachers @clairejustloveyoga surmised ….it’s the essence of a posture that’s beneficial- whether a supported inversion, a tight or more open twist….
