I used to think I was the only parent who felt completely alone. Then I did the math. 13 million people in LA and Orange County. ~4 million are parents. And according to Ohio State University, 2 out of 3 of them feel lonely and isolated. That’s 2.5 million people. Probably sitting in the same traffic. Feeling the exact same thing. I’m building Tribely to fix this. It’s a free app that connects parents in the same neighborhood, or season of life. Dads and moms…so none of us have to figure out community from scratch. Choosing distance from family is never easy, especially when children are involved. But sometimes breaking cycles means accepting discomfort now to protect what comes next. This isn’t about blame. It’s about boundaries. Safety and responsibility. If you’ve ever had to choose peace over proximity, especially as a parent what helped you stand firm in that decision? Share if this resonates ❤️ #breakingcycles #intentionalparenting #familyboundaries #healingjourney #raisingdifferently

All parents, including Dad’s need spaces to feel seen & heard and understood in parenthood!!! Parenthood is a huge identity shift for all humans in a home and often we don’t fully grasp just how much bringing a little human into the world will disrupt who we think we are. The transition into parenthood needs community and spaces to voice the doubts and questions, a space to know we’re not alone and to collaborate, learn and grow together. @newmomschool_lakeoswego IS THAT SPACE! Today, I had the honor and pleasure of facilitating the Dad’s Rising Toddler class and it was magical!! 💜 Maya LeaJames

My best friend and my sworn enemy both at the same time. That feeling of loving your child unconditionally and the reality that they annoy you more than anyone else in the world. It’s certainly conflicting. Anybody else feel the same? #rawandrooted #digitalnomadfamily #intentionalliving #truthoverperformance #parentingreality

Parental isolation doesn’t just hurt you. It slowly shapes who your kids think they’re supposed to become. Most of us are just powering through this alone and calling it strength. It’s not strength. It’s loneliness with good PR lol. If you moved somewhere new, lost your people, or never really found them after having kids, this one’s for you. Check out the link in my bio for early access to Tribely. We’re building local communities for moms and dads who are done doing it alone!!! #parenting #dadlife #momlife #parentlife

Kids feel when they are being ignored, even if they cannot explain it yet. Forcing them to be around people who do not show up for them teaches them to ignore their own feelings. Family is not just a title or a bloodline. It is being present, checking in, and caring. Teaching children that it is okay to have boundaries, even with family, helps protect their confidence and their mental and emotional well being. 👉🏾📩

Quick parenting moment that hit me. I picked the kids up alone and my daughter immediately said, “Call Daddy. I want to tell him my high and my low.” Not so he could fix it. Just so she could share. Later Duane said, “It’s because I gave her permission to complain.” And that got me. We’re taught to stuff it down, but it doesn’t disappear. It turns into stress, anxiety, resentment… then one day we snap. What if we broke the cycle and made our homes a safe place to talk? #parenting #intentionalparenting #familyculture #emotionalhealth #mindset

Unpopular opinion: As long as you live under my roof, eat the food I pay for, drive the car I insure, and depend on me financially… My job is to parent you — not be your best friend. Friendship comes later. When you can support yourself, pay your own bills, and stand on your own two feet — then we evolve. Then we become friends. But while I’m responsible for your safety, your values, and your future? There will be rules. There will be guidance. There will be moments you don’t like me. Because parenting isn’t about being liked. It’s about preparing you for real life. And real life has expectations. “Your daughter is yours for life, but your son leaves when he gets married.” ㅤ That idea only feels true if there’s nothing compelling pulling him to stay connected. ㅤ Daughters often stay relationally connected by default. Sons usually need shared mission. ㅤ The good news? You have years to build it. ㅤ Invite him into meaningful work. Give him a family mission he’s proud of. Create a family culture he actually wants to belong to as an adult. ㅤ You don’t lose your son when he gets married. You lose him when there’s nothing left to build together. ㅤ 👉 Comment “TEAM” to get our free 5 Days to Transform Your Family into a Team guide and start building a family your kids want to stay connected to for life. ㅤ #FamilyTeams #ParentingSons #FamilyCulture #MultiGenerational #BuildTogether
