I might have gone a little overboard with the cuttings 😅 So it was time for a prop box! I mixed slightly damp sphagnum moss with perlite (from @sybotanica - code "LIVINGJUNGLEE" for discount), placed the cuttings on top, and closed the lid to keep the humidity in. Keep it in a bright spot and roots should grow within a few weeks. That’s it. Simple and effective! ✨️🪴 Want to try making your own? ➡️ Comment "DETAILS' and I’ll DM you everything I used🌱 Happy growing, Plant Gang x Robbin 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 👉 Follow @living.junglee for more houseplant care tips, indoor plant hacks & endless green inspo 🌱 Note: links shared might be affiliate links. When the prop box gets a little too successful 😂🌱 • Potting up my overgrown propagation box so these roots can keep thriving 🪴

This is BY FAR the easiest way to propagate plants 🪴 it takes all the risk out from chopping the plant first & hoping it will work! You can also use plastic wrap but these prop balls are reusable and tend to hold up better. ➡️ comment “BALL” & I’ll send you the 🔗 ✨ How to use a propagation ball to air layer a houseplant ⬇️ 1. Choose a healthy and mature branch on your houseplant that you want to propagate. Make sure the branch is at least 1/4 inch in diameter. 2. Locate the node & clean the selected branch by removing any leaves or side shoots from a section about 6-8 inches long. This will be the area where you will apply the propagation ball. 3. Soak 💦 the moss ball in water for a few minutes to ensure it is fully saturated. This will help maintain moisture during the air layering process. 4. Place the propagation ball around the cleaned section of the branch, ensuring it is snug and secure. You can use a twist tie or string to hold the ball in place if needed. 5. Monitor the propagation ball regularly to ensure it remains moist. You may need to mist it with water or add more water to the ball if it starts to dry out. 💧 6. After a few weeks to a few months, you should start to see roots forming inside the propagation ball. Once the roots are well-developed, you can carefully cut the branch below the ball and remove the air layer. 🙌 7. Plant 🪴 the air-layered section in a pot with well-draining soil and keep it in a warm and humid environment. Water it regularly and provide indirect sunlight until it establishes itself as a new plant. Remember, air layering can take time, so be patient and provide the necessary care for the air-layered section to thrive. Good luck with your propagation! 🫶🪴

After bacterial root rot in my prop box, I stopped letting pots share the same water. And there is a simple fix: I added pebbles in my tray. It works because – water drains through, pots don’t sit in it – no direct water contact between pots – less chance for bacteria to travel I still need to clean trays regularly, but as a daily prevention habit it’s a game changer. Pretty much anything and everything ill repurpose for propagation! 🌱 Cups, empty salt and pepper jars, ash trays, organizer bins, coffee mugs… If it can hold water or a substrate I’ll use it! ♻️ Happy propagating!! #plant #propagation #plantshelf #houseplantsofinstagram #monday

: 🌿 Reusing sphagnum moss is such a game-changer for propagation! Not only is it sustainable and eco-friendly, but it also provides the perfect airy, moisture-retentive environment for your cuttings to root and thrive. I love taking moss from previous props and giving it new life with other plants—it stays fluffy, holds just the right amount of water, and encourages strong root growth. A little care and reuse go a long way in keeping my plant babies happy and healthy! 🌱 Can you ID these props?!

Comment ‘CLEAR’ and I’ll send you the link to these clear pots so you can start improving and getting even more enjoyment from your propagations. #houseplant #propagationstation #plants

Adding a moss pole to encourage aerial roots, bigger leaves, and healthy vertical growth 🪴

Working on another project. 🪴 I took some tiny cuttings from my houseplants to propagate for another project I have in mind. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with sphagnum moss, and I really like it as a substrate for some of my plants. It weighs almost nothing and provides an excellent moisture-retentive yet well-aerated growing medium. I soak the dry moss for a few minutes in water, then squeeze out the excess liquid and remove any debris I find. Next, I fluff it up into a nice sponge-like texture, and it’s ready for potting. Stay tuned for an update on my newly propagated cuttings! 🌿⏰ #propagation #houseplantsprojects #plantsmakemehappy #plantslover #plantaddict
