I think it is very important to stress, but this is a meme aoley aimed at Capitlaism. The government is not an inherently evil entity. In fact, under the correct leadership within socialism the government can be an amazing force for good. The problem with the state under capitlaism is that politicians and elections are fronts for capitalist interests, corruption is rip and the state acts as not only defenders of the capitalists interests but also the enforcers, punishing those who dare challenge the status quo. We need better run government, and socialism is an effective method to achieve that. But even then, the government should not be blindly trusted. It should constantly be asked to prove itself and justify its power. #communism #anarchy #sociology #trotsky

BROKEN ESCALATOR PHENOMENA You know the escalator isn’t moving. Yet you still kinda awkwardly lunge forward. Bronstein studied this disorienting feeling you get when stepping onto a broken escalator. Even when people consciously know the escalator is off, their bodies prepare as if it’s moving. Even though we know it’s off, our bodies react as if we didn’t. Bronstein called this the broken escalator phenomenon. And it turns out that our motor systems rely on more than just perception, on expectation too! It’s strong proof that our bodies and “non-cognitive” systems have memories, a sort of like embodied cognition. It might sound a bit like hippie or tree buggy but your body quite literally remembers as much as your mind does, so in a way you could say that there is merit to people who say things like “our bodies hold trauma” since there seems to be more to cognition then just our brains/higher order cortexes.
