📍 @truth.wales, Sully 🥘 A new Indian small plates bar has just opened up in Penarth and it is not one to be missed! We tried a fair few of their plates: - Bombay blush shots - pani puri - Nun Gora - crispy potatoes - Choi pitta lamb - pita with pulled lamb - The loaded truth - loaded fries with mince and cheese - The messy truth - samosa chaat, topped with pomegranate seeds - Bombay tacos - jalfrezi chicken tacos - Paratha burger - paratha burger with a smash patty and cheese - Gulab jamun and ice cream - Crofee - croissant with chocolate and ice cream The pani puri was vibrant and rich and the nun gora really reminded me of something my mum would make at home when I was younger, simple but comforting and delicious. The choi pitta was by far my favourite dish, it was incredible. The pulled lamb was tender and the masala in this dish was a 10/10 - this is a must try. Both the loaded fries and the samosa chaat were brilliant. The fries were cheesy and I do like a chaat but this exceeded my expectations. The paratha burger is their spin on the viral Dubai burger and it was pretty good - I’m just not a big burger fan, though my partner is so this was demolished alongside the Bombay tacos! As if the food wasn’t good enough, the desserts were just as good! Gulab jamun is my favourite dessert and I really enjoyed this one but the crofee was so unique, tasty and not something you see often. Truth is an upmarket restaurant without the price tag with all of the dishes being between £5.50 and £9.95, with very generous portions. It’s perfect for when you don’t want a sit down Indian meal but want to try multiple different dishes, with a more refined experience coupled up with lots of more “home-style” dishes. It is situated just above 1988, a well loved Indian restaurant and the view is beautiful, overlooking the sea and is perfect for date night or occasions. Last night was the launch and we were lucky enough to be invited along so sample some of the dishes on offer! I absolutely loved all the small plates and flavours. The star of the show for me was definitely the Bombay Blush Shots ✨ Pani Puri filled with chickpeas, tamarind and pure chaos! There were so many dishes that stood out I couldn’t possibly pick a favourite. It was like having a little Indian street food buffet creating a party of taste sensations. The cocktails were definitely on point! The only thing missing was the sun!
