CBSE Board Exams 2026: The Controller of Examinations at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, announced that entry to examination centres will not be permitted after 10 am for the morning shift papers scheduled to begin at 10:30 am. He informed that question papers will be distributed at 10:15 am, and the examination will conclude strictly as per the allotted duration. However, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates will be given the prescribed additional time. Dr Bhardwaj also outlined a detailed exam-day "bell schedule" to help students track time inside the examination hall. He said there will be a distinct, longer-duration bell system to indicate key moments - a single bell when 10 minutes are left for the paper to conclude, and a longer bell to signal the end of the examination.

First Board Examination is Mandatory All students must appear in the First Board Examination. 2. Improvement Opportunity • Students who pass can improve performance • Allowed in up to 3 main subjects (Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Languages) 3. Absence in 3 or More Subjects If a student does not appear in 3 or more subjects in the first exam: • Not eligible for the 2nd Board Examination • Placed under Essential Repeat Category • Can appear only next year (February main exam) 4.
