By law, insurance salespeople can't represent their products as investments (unless they're also registered investment advisors, which few are). Yet on social media, there seems to be an infestation of insurance salespeople pushing their permanent life insurance products as investments. They seem to exclusively lie about the benefits, throw shade at real investments like index funds, and never disclose the fees involved. They always speak in code. Things like "when you have a properly set up policy the results are amazing". It's hard to directly dispute that because a policy is just a legal document of which there can be a million iterations. So I decided to jump in and buy one! I found some dude on TikTok lying about investments, clicked his link in bio, then sat through a 90 minute sales pitch. I nodded and bought whatever he sold me. If you need life insurance (because someone depends on your work to live) buy term life insurance. Invest the difference in premiums. It could make you a million bucks.
