A utility knife is a great way to quickly cut siding as shown in this video, however I suggest you DON’T do it like this video. The knife will tend to follow the wood grain of the siding, leaving you with a wavy cut as seen in this video clip. Flip the piece over and score it on the back side of the siding, this way the cut will be much straighter. Another tip is to have a fresh blade. Don’t press down hard as you’ll break the tip off the blade. Constant even pressure and you’ll have a quick and clean break.
