Women empowerment is often misunderstood as giving women power. But sometimes it is simply about stepping aside and letting them discover their own strength. This week we took the rural women of ganga sutra for a small outing. For many of them it was the first time navigating the city on their own. Four of them had never sat in the kanpur metro before. And the one who had, had only travelled escorted by the men in her family. This time they bought their own tickets, took the metro themselves, used an escalator with confidence and decided what they wanted to eat at the food court. 🍽️🚇 Small moments, but powerful ones. Because empowerment is not about adding something new to a woman. It is about allowing her to reclaim the parts of herself that society quietly suppressed.
