A schedular VA rating (10%–100%) is based on the VA rating schedule. If you’re 100% schedular, you can still work, build businesses, invest, and make unlimited income as long as your conditions don’t materially improve. TDIU (Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability) is different. TDIU pays at the 100% rate because the VA says your service-connected conditions prevent you from maintaining substantially gainful employment. That means there are income limits tied to employment. This is why understanding the system matters. The goal isn’t just a higher rating — it’s knowing how your benefits fit into your life, income plans, and future goals. That’s also why our system doesn’t stop at Phase 1. Benefits create stability. Credit and capital create access. Assets create income that keeps up with inflation. Education first. Strategy matters.

Yes, a dependent can request apportionment—but outcomes often hinge on two things people forget: 1. financial hardship factors, and 2. whether the Veteran is reasonably supporting dependents already. ✅ Best practice: document support consistently and respond quickly to any VA request for information. 📌 For the full context and the “what to do next,” watch on YouTube (Prepare to Compete).

Attention veterans with service-connected disabilities! A critical insight on maximizing your VA compensation is being shared. If your combined disability rating sits at **70% or higher**, you may qualify to apply for **Unemployability** benefits. This important designation acknowledges when your service-related conditions prevent you from maintaining substantial gainful employment—specifically, earning above the poverty threshold. When filling out VA Form 21-2680 (Aid & Attendance), veterans often ask what to list on Line 18: only service-connected conditions, or also diagnosed but not yet rated conditions like chronic fatigue, knee issues, or dizziness? Here’s the strategic answer—it depends on your goal. 🔹 If service-connected conditions already support A&A • List only the service-connected conditions • It’s cleaner and avoids unnecessary confusion • VA can grant A&A immediately if those conditions meet the criteria 🔹 If non-service-connected conditions are part of why you need A&A • You can list them if you’re actively pursuing service connection • This helps preserve the earliest effective date • Once those conditions are later granted, A&A can potentially go back to the earliest filing Important reminder: VA cannot grant A&A based on non-service-connected conditions alone—but listing them puts VA on notice and protects your timeline while those claims are pending. Bottom line: Use Line 18 intentionally. If you already qualify, keep it simple. If you’re building toward qualification, listing those conditions—along with filing the underlying claims—can protect your back pay. 📬 If you want helpful tips and guides about VA forms, SMC, and appeals, you can sign up for our free V.E.T.S.
