What 100% Permanent and Total VA Disability REALLY Means If you’ve been rated 100% Permanent and Total VA Disability, understanding what that truly means is critical for your long-term stability. Many veterans confuse a 100% disability rating with Permanent and Total status — but they are not always the same thing. In this whiteboard explainer, we break down exactly what 100% Permanent and Total means in simple, clear language. What we cover in this video: * What a 100% VA disability rating actually means * The difference between 100% temporary and 100% Permanent and Total * What “Permanent” means regarding future VA exams * What “Total” means for compensation eligibility * How to know if your rating is considered stable * Common misunderstandings about VA re-evaluations * Additional benefits that may become available with P&T status Permanent and Total status generally indicates the VA does not expect your service-connected conditions to improve. In many cases, this means no routine future exams are scheduled. However, every veteran’s case is different. Understanding the language on your VA decision letter is essential. This video is designed to help veterans better understand: VA disability compensation VA 100 percent disability rating Permanent and Total disability meaning VA re-examination rules VA stability protections CHAMPVA eligibility Chapter 35 education benefits Dependent benefits for veterans Property tax exemptions for disabled veterans If you are concerned about losing your 100% rating, unsure whether you are truly Permanent and Total, or confused about what additional benefits may apply to you, this explanation will clarify the fundamentals. VA Secretary Doug Collins recently announced the VA is cutting the 18-page disability claim form down to just four pages. But is “easier” actually “better”? In this video, we’re breaking down why the paperwork isn’t the real problem—it’s the Knowledge Barrier. We also dive into the controversial “Medicated State” rule that almost forced veterans to choose between health and their earned benefits. If you don’t know the 3 ways to connect your claim, a shorter form won’t help you. THE 3 WAYS TO SERVICE CONNECT: 1. Direct (The military caused it). 2. Manifested (It showed up while you were serving). 3. Aggravated (You had it, but the military made it worse). Don’t let a simpler form trick you into a lower rating. Stay informed. Most vets don’t get the VA increase they deserve — not because they lack evidence, but because they’re not using the language the VA actually prioritizes. Secondary claims + limitations aren’t extras — they’re what the VA wants to see when deciding increases. In this clip, I break down the exact words and structure that help claims click with raters and examiners — so your increase has the highest chance of going through.

VR&E (Veteran Readiness & Employment), also known as Chapter 31, is a VA benefit designed to help service-connected veterans prepare for, find, or maintain meaningful employment. This program can cover education, career training, certifications, self-employment support, and accommodations if your disability impacts your ability to work. 📝 How to apply: Apply online at VA.gov Search “VR&E” or “Chapter 31” Submit VA Form 28-1900 Approval is not automatic — understanding the process matters. 🔗 Schedule support or learn more through the link in my bio.

I’m happy you are here. Lately we’ve been getting a lot of messages from service members getting ready to separate asking for help with their BDD claims, so if that’s you… you’re in the right place. A few facts about me: ✨I medically retired and had to learn the VA system the hard way ✨I studied the VA rating schedule like it was a college course ✨I’ve helped thousands of vets stop filing claims blindly ✨I still think TAP should teach way more about VA claims than it does ✨I genuinely get fired up every time a veteran gets the rating they actually deserve If you’re separating soon and trying to figure out your VA claim before you get out… Comment CHECKLIST and I’ll send you my free BDD Claim Checklist so you know exactly what to gather before filing.

A lot of veterans assume the VA system just screwed them. They think: “The VA doesn’t care.” “They’re trying to deny everyone.” “The system is rigged.” Some parts of the system are broken. But most denials happen because the evidence wasn’t packaged in a way the VA rater can actually use. The system only sees what’s documented. Diagnosis alone isn’t enough. Treatment alone isn’t enough. The evidence has to line up with the rating criteria. That’s where most vets go sideways. Save this if you’re fighting a denial.

A veteran sees two issues marked as “conceded” on a closed VA claim and wonders what the next step should be. First, it’s important to understand what VA means by “conceded.” VA usually concedes one or more of the three required elements of service connection: 1️⃣ Something happened in service 2️⃣ You have a current disability 3️⃣ A nexus linking the two If VA conceded two of those elements—most commonly the in-service event and the current diagnosis—that’s actually good news. It means you no longer need to prove those parts. What you should focus on now: • Identify what VA did NOT concede (almost always the nexus) • Read the decision carefully to see why VA says the claim fails • Build your appeal or supplemental claim only around the missing element That usually means: • A strong medical nexus opinion • Or additional evidence addressing exactly what VA said was lacking Bottom line: When VA concedes parts of your claim, they’ve narrowed the fight for you. Stop re-arguing what’s already conceded and laser-focus on the one piece still missing—that’s how claims get won. 📬 If you want helpful tips and guides about VA claims and appeals, you can sign up for our free V.E.T.S. POV: You file for a 10% increase and the VA starts reviewing your entire claim history. You thought you were just adding one condition. Now they're questioning everything—conditions you've had service-connected for years. Your P&T status? Suddenly on the table. This is the risk veterans don't always know about: filing a new claim or requesting an increase gives the VA the green light to reexamine ALL your existing conditions. I've seen it happen. Veterans who were 100% P&T, now fighting to keep what they already earned. Before you file, understand what you're opening up. 🔖 Save this. If you’re rated 100% Permanent & Total, does having conditions marked “static” actually give you any advantage? Short answer: Yes, it does—but with limits. What “static” helps with: • VA generally should not schedule future C&P exams for static conditions • It provides extra stability because VA assumes the condition won’t improve • It reduces routine reexaminations unless something triggers a review What can still trigger a new exam: • Filing for a new condition • Requesting an increase • Filing a secondary claim tied to an existing condition Even though VA isn’t supposed to reevaluate unrelated conditions, in practice, filing new claims can open the door for VA to look at the whole file again. Bottom line advice many veterans follow: If you’re already maxed out, stable, and not missing out on additional benefits, it may be wise to leave things alone and live your life. Static status gives protection—but new claims can still invite scrutiny. 📬 If you want helpful tips and guides about VA ratings and appeals, you can sign up for our free V.E.T.S.
