Over-Head Valve (OHV) or Pushrod Engine, is a piston engine whose valves are located in the cylinder head above the combustion chamber. The common usage of the term "overhead valve engine" is limited to engines where the camshaft is located in the engine block. In these OHV engines, the motion of the camshaft is transferred using pushrods (the term "pushrod engine") and rocker arms to operate the valves at the top of the engine 🎗 Share, Comment, and save for more people to see. There are different types of valvetrain systems used in engines: Overhead Valve (OHV): Also called pushrod engines, OHV engines have the camshaft located in the engine block. The valves are controlled through pushrods and rocker arms. Overhead Cam (OHC): In OHC engines, the camshaft is positioned in the cylinder head, directly over the valves. This design allows for more precise valve timing and higher engine speeds. There are two types of OHC engines: Single Overhead Cam (SOHC): One camshaft operates both intake and exhaust valves. Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC): Two separate camshafts control intake and exhaust valves, providing better performance. . . . . . #AutomotiveEngineering #Valvetrain #EngineDesign #OHV #OHC #SOHC #DOHC #PerformanceEngines

This image shows the Four-Stroke Cycle of an Internal Combustion Engine, which is the working principle of most petrol (gasoline) and diesel engines. The four stages are explained below: 🔹 1. Intake Stroke (Leftmost cylinder) The piston moves downward. The intake valve opens, allowing a mixture of air and fuel to enter the cylinder. Represented by the blue arrow in the picture. 🔹 2. Compression Stroke (Second cylinder) The piston moves upward. Both intake and exhaust valves are closed. The air-fuel mixture is compressed, which increases its pressure and temperature. Represented by the upward arrow. 🔹 3. Power Stroke (Third cylinder) At the top of the compression stroke, a spark plug ignites (in petrol engines) or high compression causes self-ignition (in diesel engines). The explosion of the fuel-air mixture forces the piston downward. This is the only stroke that produces power to move the vehicle. Represented by the flame and downward arrow. 🔹 4. Exhaust Stroke (Rightmost cylinder) The piston moves upward again. The exhaust valve opens, pushing out burnt gases (smoke). Represented by the grey smoke. ⚙️ Summary Intake → Compression → Power → Exhaust This cycle keeps repeating thousands of times per minute, making the crankshaft rotate and providing power to the wheels. Out of the four strokes, only the power stroke produces usable energy; the other three prepare the process.

Different types of Engines‼️ Following are the common engine layouts found in cars: 1. Inline Engine An inline engine, also known as a straight engine, is a type of multi-cylinder piston engine where all cylinders are arranged in a single row, either horizontally or one behind the other. 2. Rotary Engine A rotary engine is a type of internal combustion engine that rotates around a fixed shaft, using combustion gas pressures to power the shaft. 3. W-Engine A W engine is a type of piston engine that has multiple cylinder banks that share a crankshaft, giving it a W-like shape when viewed from the front. W engines are typically shorter and wider than V engines and are less common. 4. Wankel Engine A Wankel engine is a type of internal combustion engine that uses a rotating triangular rotor to convert pressure into motion. It's a compact, lightweight engine with a high power-to-weight ratio. 5. V Engine A V engine is an internal combustion engine with two rows of cylinders arranged in a V-shape. The cylinders are mounted on their side with two rows facing outwards 6. Flat Engine A flat engine is a piston engine with cylinders on either side of a central crankshaft, arranged in a horizontal plane. Flat engines are also known as horizontally opposed engines or boxer engines. 7. U Engine A U engine is a piston engine that consists of two separate straight engines that are placed side-by-side with a shared output shaft, and when viewed from the front, it resembles the letter "U". 8. X Engine An X engine is a piston engine with four-cylinder banks that form an "X" shape when viewed from the front. It's shorter than a V engine with the same number of cylinders, but it's heavier and more complex than a radial engine. #fypシ゚ #fypシ゚viralシ #fypviralシ #fbpost #fbpost2024 #viralpost #viralpost2024 #automotive #autos #automobile #mechanic #mechanical #mechanicalengineering #machine #usa #uk #australia #picoftheday #picture #engine #mech #mechanical #mechanic #repair #mechworlz #type
