A kitchen that feels connected to everything. The vaulted ceilings pull your eyes up, but it is the layout that draws you in. The range sits at the center, framed by built ins and quiet passageways that lead deeper into the home. Above the sink, dormers bring in soft natural light. A wall of windows opens to the backyard, while a sliding door connects directly to the covered patio. Everything flows together. Light hangs over the island. A dining table rests in the foreground. Every corner has purpose, but nothing feels overdone. What would it feel like to start and end your day in a kitchen like this?

Vaulted ceilings can pose a challenge for kitchen cabinets, but this design leaves no awkward angels. 5 things we were told we’d regret in our kitchen… but did anyway 👀 Open plan + high vaulted ceiling We were told it would echo, feel cold, and be hard to light. Instead, we zoned the space with furniture, rugs, and layered lighting—so it feels both spacious and cosy 🤍 Kitchen in the centre People said to push it to the wall for more storage—but for us, the kitchen is literally (and figuratively) the heart of our home. Sink in the island (no draining grooves) We heard it would always look messy… but we don’t mind a lived-in look. We skipped grooves in the quartz to avoid staining and just use a draining mat when needed. Fridge + freezer in the pantry We get asked about this all the time! It’s only 9 steps from the sink, and it gave us more space for a day pantry in the kitchen. Plus, we gained extra room by going freestanding 🙌 Apex window Yes, it can be very sunny 😂 and we were told it was “out of fashion”… but it maximises our views and still gives us that wow moment every time we walk in. Why we skipped pendant lights in our kitchen….Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good pendant light. But you have to design for your space. With our vaulted ceilings, adding them would have visually cluttered the space. We wanted the kitchen, dining, and living areas to feel open and connected. Here are some of our kitchen design ideas that we went to our kitchen supplier with. I'm always thinking of things that work well (or don't) in our home. Our design concept for our kitchen was minalministic yet functional. So, no clutter and clean lines. . 1. Panelling - adds texture and interest to the space 2. Open drinks cabinet - softens the bold nature of the kitchen (also very handy for quick access 🤣🙌🏻) 3. Vaulted ceiling - adds drama, gives the feeling of more space, and creates a wow impact! 4. LED strip lighting - looks slick yet functional 5. Nothing in the island - my hob and sink are always dirty, and my island, on the other hand, is always clean 👌🏽 6. Lots of storage - yeap enough said 💁‍♀️ 7. Future proofing, we have space and account for a second dishwasher and a wine fridge 8. Hidden pantry - ours is modest in size, but it is ESSENTIAL!! Perfect for holding all the stuff that comes with a kitchen! 9. The best for last: Minalministic Aesthetic - the biggest design feature. We really wanted to embrace simplicity and functionality, and we did this by clean lines, focusing on the essentials and clutter free spaces. As a result, our kitchen is organised, calm, and sleek (although it's far from this at meal times!) . I have great ideas how I want to decorate my kitchen for Christmas!
