Coastal vegetations are often viewed mainly as a protection against erosion, safe nesting areas or food for sea birds and animals. Within these important reasons to protect them did you also know that there lays edible and medicinal benefits of these plants. Among the most common are a) Sea Lettuce (Scaevola taccada, މަގޫ) a large bush with big leaves and gorgous multiple white fanflowers. the juice of the fruit is used to elleviate heat rashes & sun burns. it is also used as an eye lubricant. This magical fruit is can also be used to treat scratches caused by corals. b) Sea Purslane (Sesuvium portulacastrum, ލޮނުމަގޫ) A thick fleshy vine with pink/purple flowers is gorgeous to look at and full of benefits. Packed with vitamin A, C , iron and Omega3. Full of antioxidants and highly anti inflammatory this beauty is a lovely addition to your salads or even fish curries for a more coastal kick. c) Beach Launea (Launea sarmentosa، ކުއްޅަފިލާ) rockets like dense leaves protruding from the ground by the sea this delicious treat bears a small yellow edible flower. Medicinally this isnused for urinary infections but, in the Maldives its leaves are cut thinly and mixed with tuna and scrpaed coconut to make an amazing anti inflammatory side dish to accompany roti. So next time you walk along the shores stop by and take a moment to appreciate (or try) the amazing plants thats holding our beaches together

Bon… Ça, c’est mon moment Confessions Intimes 🎤😅. Ce n’était pas facile pour moi d’en parler, mais si ça peut aider d’autres enfants à éviter ce que j’ai vécu, alors ça vaut le coup. Quand un enfant respire par la bouche, suce son pouce ou a un palais trop étroit, on pense souvent que ce n’est qu’une phase. Pourtant, si la respiration nasale ne s’installe pas correctement, ça peut impacter toute la croissance de son visage. Et ça, personne ne me l’avait dit quand j’étais petite. Mes parents ont fait tout ce qu’ils pouvaient : orthodontie, opération des végétations… mais sans une vraie prise en charge de la respiration, rien n’a vraiment changé. Et quand on passe l’âge de la croissance, la seule solution qui reste, c’est souvent la chirurgie. C’est pour ça que je parle autant de prévention aujourd’hui : parce que ces ‘petits détails’ sont en réalité un vrai enjeu de santé publique. Anfang Juli haben wir zusammen mit der @feuerwehr.daenikhorst das Pump and Roll geübt. Pump and Roll wird besonders bei der Bekämpfung von Vegetations- und Flächenbränden eingesetzt. Angewendet werden kann dies nur mit speziellen Fahrzeugen mit Pumpen die während der Fahrt bedient werden können. Das ermöglicht uns so den Brand schneller einzudämmen. #feuerwehr #wasser #pumpandroll #team #übung

• Die Vegetationsbrandsaison startet – wir sind vorbereitet! Bei unserem letzten Ausbildungsdienst drehte sich alles um das Thema Vegetations- und Waldbrandbekämpfung. Mit steigenden Temperaturen steigt auch die Gefahr von Bränden in Wald- und Flächengebieten.
