We’re in the thick of a kitchen renovation (yes, living in it with 3 kids + 2 dogs… it’s fine, we’re fine), and I finally found the perfect Zellige lookalike tile, and it’s so affordable! The color variation, the warm neutral tone… she’s a beauty. But now I need your help, how should I lay it? 1. Stacked vertical 2. Stacked horizontal 3. Classic brick I temporarily mounted the tile with tape to get a feel for each option (and things got a little chaotic in the process, don’t miss the flying tile moment 😅). Vertical stack handmade look subway ◼️◼️ - Things to remember: - + These tiles vary in size. Use a spacer and wedge to make adjustments. Pay close attention to your cross sections and check every row with a level to stop accidental traveling. + These tiles may also vary in shade. Open up a few boxes before starting to tile to mix them around and get the best variation possible with color. + A hand cut mitered edge around soap boxes and niches look great with this tile as the imperfections are meant to shine. In my opinion the profile just doesn’t do it total justice but that’s personal preference. + Finish off with a high quality grout and silicon your changes of planes for a professional quality finish! - #tileinstallation #tiledesign #diy

Welcome back to the #renterfriendly #diy test kitchen! We already know my admiration for Smart Tiles BUT they are not a #budgetfriendly #homedecor product soo I went searching for a comparable style, quality, and cheaper version… I might have found it! Is the cheaper version a random brand on Amazon? Yes!! That is usually how it works but the specs (water proof, oil proof, heat resistant etc) are the same. I say that if you are on a budget for #homeimprovement these work! If you want Smart Tiles and don’t mind the price. I still love them and will always have them in my recommendation lists. I usually leave them up for a little bit to do some “tests”, make sure they don’t fall off (doesn’t look like they will), and a final rip down.
