If you’ve been here for a while you know I’m a huge advocate for not needing fancy camera gear in order to get good results. As my career has evolved and I’ve begun filming more professionally I have acquired equipment as I’ve needed it but to this day I will still use my iPhone to film at least 50% of the time because it is incredibly practical, easy and I always have it on me! As promised, my settings are: 4k50 (if you’re in an NTSC region use 24/30/60p) H.264 codec Apple Log color space Shutter 1/100 (180 rule most of the time) Display LUT on (using my cine LUT here) ISO (I adjust scene depending) and WB is usually auto as I’ll fix in post As with most things, lighting plays a huge part so before you worry about any fancy gear, make sure you have yourself some good lighting options.
