🇬🇧 Candied violets 🪻✨ 🇮🇹 Violette candite 🪻✨ . 🇬🇧I am crazy for them since I was a child 🤗 the recipe is very easy, go for them and let me know ✨ 🇮🇹 Ne vado pazza sin da quando ero bambina 🤗 la ricetta è molto facile, provale e fammi sapere ✨ . 👇🏻Recipe / Ricetta 👇🏻 🇬🇧 • Ingredients: 40 violets from the garden (without pesticides) 1 egg white 50 gr white sugar 👉🏻 Pick the violets in morning time as the perfume will be more intense at this time of the day. Remove stems, the green part and any bug. Brush every violet, both sides, with egg white and place them on a silpat. Coat them both sides with white sugar. Dry in static oven or in a dehydrator at 45°C for 2 hours. Enjoy 💜 . 🇮🇹 • Ingredienti: 40 violette del giardino (senza pesticidi) 1 albume d’uovo 50 gr zucchero 👉🏻 Raccogli le violette al mattino, il profumo sarà più intenso in questo momento della giornata. Togli il gambo , la parte verde e rimuovi eventuali insetti. Spennella ogni violetta, da entrambi i lati, con l’albume d’uovo e disponili su un silpat. Ricoprile da entrambi i lati con zucchero . They’re probably there anyway – just let them stay ✌️ My love for native violets runs deep and long. They’re easy to grow & make an excellent short ground cover. AND they can handle light foot traffic! The easiest way to begin to create biodiversity in your lawn is let the native plants that are already there stay & mow as little as you can. Native violets self seed readily to fill in bare spaces, suppress weeds & add a beautiful pop of colour in springtime (& sometimes in autumn too) for some varieties. Some may call them aggressive, but in a garden situation they do just fine when planted below taller perennials that keep them in check. These shown are Blue Woolly violet/ Viola sororia and most native violets are edible too! Both the flowers & the leaves are edible, but I do hope you leave some for the Fritillary butterflies & moths that need them for their baby larva. Leave some for an early food source for all the native bees, skippers, ants & flies while you’re at it! Viola sororia are native to Eastern/central North America, hardy to zone 3 & grow best in light shade but will in full sun too if they get enough moisture. You likely won’t find them in a nursery but if you don’t have them already they’re very easy to grow from seed. Yellow violets show up before purple violets where I'm located💛. Five yellow petals with dark lines drawing in those little critters to sip their nectar. Heart shaped, smooth green leaves. Growing low to the ground in moist shaded forests and rich, humus-y soil. Like the violet violets 💜, these golden beauties (& their leaves) are technically edible. However, yellow varieties usually contain more saponins and can cause digestive upset so use in very small amounts. I use the yellow ones more as decoration. Caution: Everyone reacts differently. Do your research and forage smartly. Make sure you're eating the Viola species (African violets are NOT edible). #foraging #herbalist #wildfoodlove #violets

Cap a muntanya haureu d’esperar encara alguna setmana més 🌸. En el meu llibre #CuinarAmbFlors editat per @cossetaniaedicions podreu descobrir curiositats, propietats, remeis i receptes amb les violetes 💟. A l’Arlet li encanten, avui hem fet galetes de mantega i violetes per berenar. Desitgem que us agradin ! 🍽️RECEPTA: 350g farina 150g sucre tipus panela 30g fruits negres congelats (nosaltres hem utilitzat saüc) 250g farina amb un xic de sal. 👐🏻 es barreja la mantega pomada amb les violetes i amb el sucre, la farina, la sal i els fruits de saüc o nabius o mores… a part del sabor, busquem color morat/lila. S’ha de treballar amb les mans i quan estigui la massa com una plastilina s’han de fer cilindres i embolicar-los amb film. Llavors es guarden a la nevera fins l’endemà. Engegueu el forn a 160graus i mentres s’escalfa talleu a rodelles fines la massa i poseu-les sobre un paper de forn, podeu pintar-les amb clara d’ou i sucre i decorar amb més violetes abans de fornejar. Amb 15 minuts de forn ja en tenen prou. Espereu que es refredin i guardeu-les en un pot hermètic. African violet Rose Bouquet & African Violet Aca’s Libbie from: @dewviolets Self watering pots purchased on @etsy from seller: @poethandesigns Grow tips: 💡I keep mine under a grow light for 12 hours a day. 💧Self watering pots are helpful to keep damp. I fill the water reservoir when it’s dry and that also helps to avoid wetting the leaves. They don’t like wet leaves on their fuzz. 🌸If you’re not getting blooms, or your leaves are becoming dull in color, it may not be receiving enough light and you can also consider incorporating an African violet fertilizer as well. 🍂 chunky soil mix consisted of equal parts indoor potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite. #africanviolets #planttips
