If you’re looking to move off VMware - you’ve got options. After Broadcom bought VMware earlier this year, there have been reports of huge price increases. (up to 10x as much!!!) If you’re looking to change, consider these alternatives: Nutanix - Software Defined HCI - doesn’t require separate storage or virtualization software like vSAN and vSphere Azure Stack HCI - HCI managed from the cloud - AHV hypervisor is included at no additional cost - with Azure Arc, can replace vSphere, vSAN & vRealize Apache CloudStack - open source (if you’re into that) - good for large scale deployments - flexible, supports multiple hypervisors Redhat OpenShift (or Kubernetes) - may mean you need to refactor some apps - tools like Konveyor or Tanzu can help migrate - containers can be more efficient & portable than VM’s Remember - every IT environment is unique. There isn’t a one size fits all solution. If you need help with which option is right for your business, make sure you reach out to your partner! P.S. If you’re moving off VMware, what is your pick? #networkengineer #informationtechnology #it #tech #vmware #technology #workingintech #datacenter

Not every business understands cloud migration… until downtime hits ⚠️ So I translated that reality into motion. This piece explains how moving to the cloud helps businesses stay online, secure, and efficient, all through clean visual storytelling. I enjoy turning technical concepts into designs people can actually feel and understand. More projects like this coming. #MotionDesign #DigitalDesign #CloudComputing #CreativeProcess #BrandDesign

Migrating an application from on-premises to the cloud requires a planned and phased approach. I usually follow these steps: ⸻ 1️⃣ Assessment & Planning 🔍 • Analyze the existing application architecture, dependencies, and data flow. • Identify the business goals (cost savings, scalability, performance, resilience). • Choose the right cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and decide on the migration strategy. ⸻ 2️⃣ Choose Migration Strategy ⚙️ Common cloud migration strategies (the 6 R’s model): • Rehost (Lift & Shift): Move VMs/servers as-is to the cloud. • Replatform: Small optimizations (e.g., move DB to RDS, use managed services). • Refactor: Redesign app for cloud-native (microservices, serverless). • Repurchase: Replace with SaaS (e.g., Salesforce, Office 365). • Retire: Decommission unused components. • Retain: Keep some parts on-prem if required (hybrid). ⸻ 3️⃣ Infrastructure Setup 🏗️ • Set up VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM roles in the cloud. • Configure networking (VPN or Direct Connect) for hybrid access during migration. • Prepare monitoring & logging tools. ⸻ 4️⃣ Data Migration 📦 • Use cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Database Migration Service, Azure Data Migration). • Perform incremental sync to avoid downtime. • Validate data consistency and integrity. ⸻ 5️⃣ Application Migration 🚀 • Containerize applications using Docker & Kubernetes if needed. • Deploy workloads to cloud compute services (EC2, AKS, EKS, GKE, or serverless like Lambda). • Use CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to automate deployments. ⸻ 6️⃣ Testing & Validation ✅ • Run functional, performance, and security testing. • Validate monitoring dashboards and alerts. • Perform a cutover plan (switch traffic to cloud gradually using DNS routing, load balancers). ⸻ 7️⃣ Optimization & Monitoring 📊 • Implement autoscaling, cost optimization, caching (CloudFront, CDN). • Monitor using Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK. • Ensure security compliance with cloud-native security tools. #devopsengineer #kubernetes #devopsinterviewquestionsandanswers #devopscommunity #devopstraining #terraform #docker #devopscourse

This is how a REAL production cloud application is built on AWS 🚀 Not demos. Not toy projects. User traffic first hits CloudFront (CDN) for speed and global delivery. Before reaching the app, AWS WAF blocks attacks like SQL injection, bots, and abuse. Requests then go through an Application Load Balancer, which routes traffic to different services. At the core runs Amazon EKS (Kubernetes): Frontend Orders Payments Each runs as an independent microservice that can scale on demand. An Ingress Controller handles TLS, routing, and zero-downtime deployments. Data layer is split properly: RDS (PostgreSQL) → orders & transactions DynamoDB → carts & sessions S3 → images & invoices Heavy tasks are async: Orders trigger EventBridge → SQS → Lambda for emails, invoices, inventory updates, and analytics. Security & reliability: Secrets Manager for credentials IAM roles for pods CloudWatch + Prometheus + Grafana for monitoring VPC Flow Logs for network visibility This is cloud-native, scalable, secure DevOps architecture used in real companies. If you understand this, you’re already thinking like a production DevOps engineer. Save & share 📌 🔥 #DevOps #AWS #Kubernetes #CloudArchitecture #EKS
