This tower captures clean water from thin air, helping provide remote communities with 100 litres of water a day! It’s called the Warka Water, inspired by the Warka tree that’s native to Ethiopia. The tower collects moisture from the air and brings it back down to the people. The structure is made from bamboo with an inner mesh that harvests and collects droplets of water by condensation. These droplets then trickle down the mesh down a big funnel and into a reservoir that holds the water, which is kept in the shade by a canopy that helps prevent the water from evaporating. So far, the Warka Water has been implemented in Ethiopia, Haiti, Brazil and many more places! And an amazing part of the project is that it’s an open source concept, meaning its design is publicly accessible, so local communities can be trained how to create it and repeat it as much as they like. Around 1 in 4 people don’t have access to safe drinking water, so solutions like this are really important to help transform millions of lives for good. #goodnews #sustainableliving #water #conservation #sustainability #cleanwater

Would you like to build one of these for your home? Developed by architect and engineer Arturo Vittori and his team at Architecture and Vision, The Warka Water tower is a 30-foot-tall structure constructed from biodegradable materials such as bamboo, polyester mesh, and hemp rope. It functions by harvesting atmospheric water vapor—dew, fog, and rain—which condenses on the mesh surface and is funneled into a collection basin at the base. Since its inception, Warka Water has been implemented in various countries, including Ethiopia, Haiti, Madagascar, Colombia, Brazil, India, Sumba, and Cameroon. 💧 Harvesting Water from Air—Nature-Inspired Innovation What if access to clean drinking water didn’t rely on heavy infrastructure or expensive systems? The Warka Water Tower offers a powerful alternative—designed to collect water straight from the air using simple, sustainable materials. Inspired by the native Warka tree of Ethiopia, this tower stands around 30 feet tall and is crafted from bamboo and natural fibers. Inside, a special mesh captures moisture from fog and humidity, condensing it into safe, drinkable water. Here’s what makes it impactful: ☁️ Draws water from atmospheric humidity 💧 Produces up to 100 liters per day 🛠 Built in under a week using local materials 🌍 Open-source design for global accessibility With a cost between $500–$1,000, it’s a low-impact, community-driven solution—perfect for off-grid and water-stressed regions. This isn’t just innovation—it’s a reminder that sometimes the most effective solutions come from working with nature, not against it. Air Into Water 💧 The Warka Water Tower turns air into drinking water — no pipes, no pumps, no plastic. Inspired by Ethiopia’s Warka tree, this 30-foot bamboo structure captures humidity through a fine mesh, condenses it, and collects up to 100 liters of clean water per day. Built with local, biodegradable materials and costing around $500–$1,000, it’s a powerful example of circular design in action. Simple. Local. Regenerative. Innovation doesn’t have to be high-tech — just smart. #circulareconomy #waterinnovation #waterfromair #sustainabledesign #biodesign #climatesolutions #ecoinnovation #designforgood #lowwasteliving #greenfuture Credit: No Polluting

We are competing for the IBEST award in the Environment and Sustainability category! Help the movement by voting through the link in our bio! 💧 A tower that "drinks" air and produces clean water without electricity! It sounds like science fiction, but it’s saving real lives. The Warka Tower, designed by architect Arturo Vittori, is brilliant in its simplicity: a 12-meter bamboo structure that condenses moisture from the air overnight. Drops run down into a reservoir at the base — up to 100 liters per day! It costs only $500–$2,000, compared to millions for conventional alternatives. Inspired by Ethiopia’s Warka tree (a traditional meeting point), the tower also becomes a community space. BONUS TIP: Companies like Zero Mass Water have already raised $50 million by investing in “air-to-water” tech — a market projected to reach $8.5 billion by 2030! 💰 Here’s the irony: the wealthy pay fortunes for bottled water, while this simple technology solves the problem at the source. In UGREEN trainings, I teach how to spot these “obvious” solutions the market hasn’t priced correctly yet. 🚀 Want to discover other disruptive technologies before the mainstream catches on? 🎥: Warka Water, Dezeen, Planet Forward, The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, Earth Titan, TheAgaKhanAward #InnovaciónSustentable #aguaesvida💧 #gestiónhídrica #aguadecamanchaca
