Don’t underestimate a warthog, this boar was enormous and easily weighed over 80kg 🐗 I’ve recently noticed many people walking up to warthogs in wildlife estates trying to get closer to take pictures. Even though these pigs appear ‘tame’ their behaviour can change in a a second! All animals can be potentially dangerous, appreciative then from a distance. ☀️🌻 #wildlifeplanet #warthog #canonrsa #hoedspuit #wildlife

Trick or treat with Mr Bean! Our wily little warthog wins the award for cutest Halloweener — he doesn’t even need a costume. After guzzling down his favourite treat, Mr Bean tears around the compound to showcase his signature trick: ‘when pigs fly!’ He then pays each Keeper a visit, one by one, for mandatory scratches. — Mr Bean is the smallest orphan currently in our care. Rescued as a newborn, he now has a family with us and a wild future to look forward to. Because his reintegration journey will unfold at quicker pace, he is not on our foster program — but you can still treat Mr Bean this Halloween through a donation! Supporters like you ensure we are able to rescue orphans like Mr Bean and protect the habitats they will one day call home. Kasongo is excellent at parental duties with his roll call. The first warthog babies that I saw that actually listen to their dad in the wild. #kasongo #warthog #wildanimals #safari #viral

Mr Bean does everything with great gusto — especially drinking his bottle! We love how he takes a mid-meal break to show off his milk mask and mohawk before getting back to the task at hand. (And a moment of appreciation for Keeper Peter’s multitasking abilities! Fellow orphan Izera — who has already been fed — is feeling gluttonous, so Peter volunteers his free hand as a pacifier to distract the greedy eland.) — Mr Bean is the smallest orphan currently in our care. Rare Footage: Male Leopard Hunts Warthog 🤯 Leopards seldom target warthogs due to the potential danger posed by the warthog's tusks. In this remarkable video from Londolozi Ranger Kirst Joscelyne, watch the Senegal Bush Male Leopard's calculated patience as he perches atop a termite mound, awaiting an opportunity. When the unsuspecting warthog emerges from its burrow, the leopard seizes the moment in a split second. The warthog's more fortunate mate, driven by instinct, charges towards the leopard several times, showcasing the inherent risks of such encounters of predator vs prey in the wild. Visit the link to read about a similar sighting of the same leopard, a different warthog AND a hyena! 📹️: @kirstjos_photography #londolozi #thelondolozieffect #relais #relaischateaux #wildlifeblog #luxurysafari #safari #leopard #warthog #leopardhunt #predatorvsprey @relaischateaux

Are warthogs endangered? 🐗 Both warthog species are currently listed as least concern on the IUCN Red List. However, populations of the common and desert warthogs are estimated to be declining across Africa due to poaching and habitat degradation. 〽️ Where do warthogs live? The common warthog inhabits open plains, grassland savannahs, and woodlands across sub-Saharan Africa. They are found in most countries from the Sahara Desert as far south as South Africa. Desert warthogs occupy the semi-arid regions of Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya in East Africa. --------- #tanzania #serengeti #wildlifephotography #warthog #lion

🚨🐆🐗 Leopard vs Warthog – Predator & Prey Encounter in the Wild 😱⚡ In African savanna ecosystems, sandy embankments and burrows often create unexpected moments between predators and prey. Watch a tense wildlife scene where a leopard waits above while a warthog emerges from its den below in a high-risk natural encounter. 💥 Ambush Position: Leopard uses elevation and concealment for surprise advantage 🛡 Prey Awareness: Warthogs rely on vigilance and rapid escape once alerted 🌿 Burrow Habitat: Underground shelters are used for safety and rest 😵 Last Clip: A reminder that survival often depends on timing and awareness In the wild, even a single moment can change everything. 💬 Did you know leopards are expert ambush hunters that rely heavily on stealth rather than long chases? 🎥 Video Credit: DM for credits/removal to the real owner. 👉 Follow @skullofnature for more wildlife encounters, predator behavior, and raw nature scenes. . . . #skullofnature #leopard #warthog #wildlife #naturefacts animalbehavior savanna predatorprey

Sometimes in the world, there is nothing more a parent can do. 🐗 What you see here is a painful moment on the African savannah. A leopard has climbed a dry tree with a baby warthog. Below the tree, the mother and father wait looking up, almost in disbelief, hoping the leopard might drop their little one. But the leopard holds on tightly. It worked hard for this meal. After waiting for a moment, the two warthogs slowly walk away. In the wild, survival is harsh, and even the strongest parents cannot always change what happens. Whilst Care for Wild is best known for our work with rhinos, we are a registered wildlife rehabilitation centre dedicated to the care of all African indigenous species. Our newest little patient is a tiny warthog! Found alone and barely conscious, she was rushed to the ICU where the team worked quickly to stabilise her. Wrapped in blankets and gently warmed, her strength began to return and before long, she was eagerly drinking from a bottle. Although Petronel is best known for her expertise in rhino rehabilitation, her experience spans decades of wildlife rescue and care. She has worked with a wide range of species, from antelope and primates to birds and, of course, warthogs. Warthogs may be small, but they are tough, intelligent, and full of character! #careforwild #wildliferescue #africanwildlife #warthog
