Ollas have been used for thousands of years in dry climates to water plants slowly and deeply. 💦 They’re unglazed clay pots buried in the soil, releasing moisture through its porous surface, only when the soil dries out. I’ve used them in both raised beds and containers to irrigate my crops, especially when I’m traveling or away from my garden for a week. Just be sure to plant your crops close to the olla so water is easily accessible to it. Follow along for more gardening tips! 💚 #ollas #irrigation #gardeningtips #watering #vegetablegardening

Place a plastic tray in a sheltered area of your garden out of direct sun and fill it with water. Gather the plants you wish to be protected and watered whilest you are away and group them on the tray you prepared Most potted plants stored this way whilst you are on holidays will do much better than left around the garden in full sun. #watering #gardeninghacks #gardeningforbeginners #gardening

Hand-watering may not be this extreme, but it’s great for beginner gardeners! 🚿 Why? Because it forces you to spend time and engage with your plants. If everything in your garden was on a drip irrigation system, you would not need to go out there and water. With less time in your garden, the fewer opportunities you will have to observe your plants, identify problems and understand their growth patterns 🌿 Don’t get me wrong, I greatly prefer drip irrigation for larger spaces, but a bit of hand watering every now and again is great way to relax and connect with your plants 😊 Do you prefer automated watering systems or hand watering? 💧 . . . . . . . . . #FarmerNick #handwatering #watering #gardentips

You think you watered enough. You didn’t. I watered this for 15 seconds. Surface looked wet. Thought I was done. Mixed it with a shovel. Dust everywhere. Bone dry underneath. Water gets trapped in the top layer. Never makes it to the roots. Happens all the time in spring when soil is still dry from winter. Happens more in summer when heat pulls moisture out fast. Water deeply. Slow and steady. Let it soak in, wait, water again. Get past the top layer. Your plants will tell you if they’re not getting enough, they’ll wilt even though you just watered. Because the water didn’t reach. Water deeply. It doesn’t reach as far as you think. #gardentendencies #gardeningtips #watering #gardening #deepwatering

Dunking is a very efficient method of watering plants. Simply fill a bucket with some water and place your pots in the bucket to rehydrate. As the water will start replacing air gathered in the pot, you’ll see baubles coming from the plant up to the surface of the water. When the bubbles stop, it means that the plant had a proper drink and it’s time for it to be placed on a saucer. This method of watering is very environmentally friendly and will reduce usage of water especially in a time of droughts. Dunking not only saves water but also your own money. #watering #gardeninghacks #gardeningforbeginners #gardening #savewater

✅Watering Guzmania (and Bromeliads), Guzmanya Sulama 🌺Fill the center tank (funnel) of the Guzmania (and all of Bromeliads) if it has one and don’t let it go dry 🌸The tank is located at the center where the convex-shaped leaves meet in a rosette pattern 🌺You should fill this cup and let the water spill out onto the soil around the base of the plant 🌸Rinse out the tank once a week by pouring the water into a bowl or cup 🌺It’s important to rinse and replace the tank area because stagnant water can cause salt to build up and damage the plant ✅✅Guzmanya Sulama 🌺Guzmanyaları yaprak hunisinin içine su dökerek sulayın 🌸Huniye su döktüğünüzde su yavaş yavaş yaprak aralarından toprağa sızar 🌺Huninin içini sürekli nemli tutun, ancak kış aylarında kuru tutmaya çalışın 🌸Suyun oda sıcaklığında olmasına dikkat edin, soğuk su ile sulamayın 🌺Sularken yaprak hunisinin içine su dökün 🌸Ekim-Şubat arasında suyu azaltın 🌺Kireçli musluk sularını kullanmayın 🌸Dinlenmiş su verin #sonerkazaz #guzmania #guzmanya #bromeliad #bromelias #bromeliads #water #irrigation #watering #
