Here’s a tutorial on how to dry wavy hair. Waves don’t hold in the same way as curls so your drying technique can make a big difference. Unlike curlier hair, I find waves do better when the lengths have an initial set & the roots done afterwards. Its best to disturb the clumps as little as possible during drying. This wash I used softer hold products so it didn’t come out crunchy. If only the process was actually this relaxing 😅 In all seriousness, diffusing IS worth the time—and assuming you’re starting on damp and not soaking wet it won’t take *that* much time. For me it takes around 30 minutes to diffuse, which is the same amount of time it takes me to blow dry my hair too! p.s. this song makes me want to start playing the harp again!! Why has no one told me this 🫠👋 1. Don’t touch the curls!!!! (Yet🤭) I always thought the more you got in there with your diffuser, ruffle your roots, moved it up and down aggressively… the more volume you got. Wrong!! If you’re going for frizz, that’s the method 😂. Hovering over hair (esp your roots) until the “cast” forms, will keep your curls in tact AND minimize frizz without slowing the drying process! I really don’t let the diffuser prongs even touch my hair until it’s 60% dry🤭 2. Don’t flip that hair! (Yet 😉) same as above.. honestly thought the messier the drying process the better the curls will turn out 🥴. Don’t “disrupt” the curl pattern until roots + lengths are like 60% dry. Then *gently flipping and continuing to hover diffuse and lightly get into your roots will give you that effortless volume but keep those beautiful curl clumps you worked hard to style! 3. Don’t dry it fully. I always thought wet curls would fall flat or look greasy if I did fry them dry 🫠 the most interesting thing about naturally textured hair to me is that it literally takes on a life of its own and no wavy hair day will ever be the same.. despite the exact same products and method. MEANING - let your hair do its thangggg. Dry to about 80% and give it an hour to just embrace the product, the natural movement, air environment etc before getting in with your fingers to fluff and scrunch the finally product. Sometimes that last bit of moisture to air dry out is exactly what my curls need to settle into their bouncy little clumps 🤭

Wavy Hair Struggles#3: Using a Diffuser🌬️ ⬇️ Using a diffuser can be tricky if you’re new to using one, especially on wavy/curly hair. I hope these tips help you out on your hair journey! HOW YOU DIFFUSE MATTERS💫 I thought it would be fun to show you the mistakes I used to make and what a difference it makes! I have applied the same styling products on both sides. What to do ✅ ✅Start with hover diffusing on low speed ✅Put your hair in the diffuser and lift it up to your scalp. Try to touch your hair as little as possible with your hands. I switch to medium speed. ✅Make sure you also dry your roots. I use medium heat. What not to do ❌ ❌Let your hair air dry before you start with diffusing. Because of the water that’s still in your hair your curls get weighed down. ❌Squeeze your hair while diffusing. ❌Rotate the diffuser on your scalp. This will cause frizz. Easy wavy hair routine for quick styling and fast drying. This has been such a simple, go-to routine for me. It takes me minutes to style and, with a lightweight styler, my hair dries so fast (win-win!) 💡TIP: when brushing foam or mousse into my hair, I start from my mid-lengths to ends. 🌟Reacting to Wavy Hair Routines🌟 part 1 I really was amazed at her results! I have never seen someone style their wavy hair like this. It’s such a hodgepodge of different styling techniques, all thrown into one routine. I thought it was super interesting that she lightly sectioned her hair to glaze in a curl cream, and really thoroughly scrunch that in. I did not see her scrunch in her gel the same way she scrunched in the curl cream, but she could have done that off camera. The finger coiling giant sections had me nervous. I loved seeing her hovered diffuse her hair first and then pixie diffuse her hair. If it had been me, I would’ve held the diffuser more still. It’s possible that this was just wildly sped up for the Instagram reel. But I thought I saw her, wiggling the diffuser around at her roots, which is a way to get volume, but I find that that just creates a ton of frizz and breaks up my curl clumps.
