Rafa, our industrial designer, came up with a clever assembly system that allows the pieces to be installed and removed easily, without damaging the wall or the design. So for me it was this… It wasn’t one big moment where everything suddenly became clear. It was more a slow build-up of realising that I felt incredibly lonely, even though I was in a relationship. I never really felt like we were fully committed. It always felt conditional. Like he wanted me most when he didn’t have me. Like it was all a bit of a game. What hurt the most is that the moments that were meant to be happy were often ruined. Our engagement. Pregnancy. Buying a house. Big life moments that should have felt safe and exciting ended with me crying and wondering why it felt so hard. I kept telling myself it was just stress, or timing, or that things would settle once the next milestone passed. They didn’t. I went back more times than I care to admit. Hoping it would be different. Believing that this time things would change. And I don’t judge that version of myself at all. I was doing the best I could with what I had at the time. Eventually, there came a moment when I was already emotionally stretched and something in me just couldn’t do it anymore. Not in a dramatic, empowered way. Just a quiet realisation that I didn’t have the strength to keep carrying the relationship on my own. That was when I found enough clarity to leave. I’ll never judge anyone who stays. Or leaves. Or goes back. Or leaves again. There isn’t a right way to do this, and there isn’t a timeline you’re supposed to follow. You just have to do what’s right for you, when you’re able to do it. And sometimes that means trying again before you’re ready to walk away for good. If you’ve ever been asked “why don’t you just leave?” and felt that knot in your stomach, please know this: leaving isn’t one decision. It’s a process. And you’ll know when your moment comes, even if you can’t explain it to anyone else.
