What’s happening to Story Highlights? 😟👇🏼 If you’re a loyal podcast listener, you already knew this was coming, but in case you missed it: Instagram is likely moving Story Highlights off your main profile view 😳 Instead of living between your bio and your feed content, Highlights are being moved to a separate tab on your profile. Now, for those of us who used Highlights strategically (like a mini website), this is not the type of news we were waiting for 😭 But… Instagram is not doing it to punish us. This is about shifting attention. Instagram wants your actual feed content - Reels, carousels, posts - to sit higher on your profile so people engage with it first. Because right now, new visitors who land on your profile first read see your bio, then your Highlights and then content. But a lot of profile visitors don’t even scroll that far. So this update pushes your content up, increasing the chances of new people seeing (and consuming) your work 👏🏼 And look, if I had to choose between people watching my curated story collections or actually seeing my content… it’s a tough call. If a non-follower views my content, I obviously want that piece of content to be growth content… because nurture or conversion content is not going to make them follow me 😕 But, here’s where it gets good: There’s another rumour floating around that Instagram may soon allow us to manually reorder our feed.
