That’s wild how much different it is getting into the passenger side of a vehicle. For me, it’s way harder than the driver side. I had my girl drive my truck to follow me while I was out on the bike 😎🔥 I didn’t feel like throwing the hand controls on, so she drove us home. Imagine having to struggle this hard everyday just to go out and about!!! I do feel like I'm picking on Lewis with these videos but these videos highlight the visceral and the absolute struggle many wheelchair users face everyday. Lewis is a 6'4 gentleman, fairly muscular and quite ballsy with all of his physical faculties intact and he struggled! You can hear it! Now imagine you have relatively no core strength, limited arm/hand function or one of the many other ailments spinal injuries create. Its daunting even terrifying to many! Many take the longer route just to avoid things like this but sometimes it's unavoidable and then what? It just becomes to a point where you think nope....can't go there. Wheelchair User Problems - Wheelchair Wheels Aren’t Supposed To Come Away From The Frame! My wheelchair’s wheels have been causing me some problems. They’ve been coming away from the frame with a ‘clonk’, jolting me in the process. It has been particularly noticeable when out and about, as the wheels go over uneven pavements. I didn’t realise what the problem was at first. I knew my pain levels were higher and I was feeling uncomfortable when out, but I put it down to the poor fit of my bike attachment since it’s service. It wasn’t until I tried to reposition myself (pushing down on my wheelchair’s pushrims to help), that I realised what was happening. I felt the wheel move out of place and heard the ‘clonk’ sound. Wheelchairs can be a great source of independence and freedom, but can also cause significant problems when they aren’t right. It’s hard to have disabled body confidence when your medical or mobility equipment isn’t working optimally or is causing you harm. As a full time wheelchair user it is very important to take care and maintain my equipment. I currently have a TILite ZR titanium rigid active manual wheelchair from @nsmobility @permobil that I use on the daily and the main thing that I, and many other wheelchair user, struggle with the most is the amount of hair and debris that can accumulate in the front small caster wheels. This build up can greatly affect the overall smoothness of our ride so cleaning them regularly reduces this issue. Other things that I make sure to look at while cleaning my chair is to tighten any nuts and bolts that may have gotten loose from time and use. I also will look at my big wheels and make sure that the tire pressure is good making it easer for me to push. I really like my @spinergywheels as they are the best and hold up the longest. All of this to say is that it is essential to take care of my wheelchair so that I can preformed to the best of my abilities. #wheelchair #wheelchairmaintenance #wheelchairuser #disabled #disability
