Don’t get made at me but… If you have a true leg length discrepancy, as measured by an x-ray, of more than 2 cm, a heel lift is indicated (but actually it would be better to have a whole shoe lift so you aren’t pushed onto your toes, which causes other problems). If that is NOT you, you probably DON’T have a leg length difference- you probably have a pelvis imbalance. If someone has told you you have different leg lengths, but they haven’t done an x-ray, and they haven’t objectively shown you that your pelvis is neutral, then you probably DON’T have a leg length discrepancy. I take out WAY MORE heel lifts than I put in. When we get these patients balanced in their pelvis, they feel much better. And guess what? If you have a heel lift in there, now you have NO CHANCE of balancing your pelvis because you’re being held in that position! 😳 I’m not saying this to scare you, I am saying this so you can make an informed decision about your body and actually get to the root cause of your symptoms.
