Did something a little different this past weekend. I had the pleasure of taking a class with @originalinstructions through @greendoorfolkschool . We spent 2 days learning about and weaving a willow basket. It was so fun and challenging and meditative. Really proud of my basket. I can’t wait to take it to the farmers market buy until then maybe I’ll just carry it around the house. While I spend most of my time making tiny things it was refreshing making 1 large thing. Ha!

Every basket starts with a base. Today I made traditional English underfoot ovals with six foot willow rods. This variety is called Harrison’s and is nice and chunky. Once dryer I can use the bases for weaving more of my simple ‘Catkin’ baskets and then attach straps. Basketry can be a slow but rewarding process that I’m very lucky to spend my time keeping relevant in today’s busy world. #basketmakersassociation #heritagecrafts #handmade
