Evening wind down routine 🫧💤

slow down… Your mind and body will thank you. Most of us have spent years believing that busy equals important. That if we’re not doing three things at once, we’re falling behind. That pausing means we’re not trying hard enough. Here’s what I’ve noticed: When I move slowly, I actually feel what’s happening. The tension in my stomach. The way my jaw clenches when I read certain emails. The moment I check out and go into my head. Slowing down brings me back to the present moment, to myself. Not to some zen state. Just back to what’s actually here. To the conversation I’m having. To the food I’m eating. To my life as it’s happening instead of five steps ahead of it. This isn’t about slowing down everything. It’s about catching the moments when I’m racing past myself. When I’m so busy getting somewhere that I forget I’m already here. Try it today. Pause. Even for a second. Notice where you’re holding tension. Notice when you’ve left the present moment. Feel your feet on the ground. Take one full breath. That’s it. I tried doing absolutely nothing for a full hour to reset my nervous system, and I realized my brain is actually broken. Since we’re constantly on our screens and living in this permanent “go-go-go” mode, sitting still felt like a physical battle. I spent the entire hour fidgeting, messing with my headband, and fighting the literal itch to check my notifications every two minutes. It’s wild how uncomfortable it feels to just exist without a distraction when you’re used to constant overstimulation, but that’s exactly why this reset is so necessary. My nervous system was screaming at me to do something productive, but I’m forcing myself to relearn how to be still.
