Lots of new people here - hello! Here are 5 things you need to know about my book, Wintering. Next up, Enchantment :) #wintering #authorsofinstagram #bookish

If this video (audio by @flowersfrompain ) found its way to you then you might also need to hear this: You’re a good person. Like, a really great human. Even if it felt like nobody saw or appreciated you, you kept showing up. You did your best this year, with what you had. You made it through all of your hardest days. You lived a thousand precious, ordinary moments, and you made a difference in ways you didn’t even realize. You make the world a better place. Never forget that only in the darkest moments do seeds begin to grow into what will someday be a beautiful garden. 🩷 I invite you to take 5 slow, deep breaths, unclench your jaw, relax your shoulders, set down your phone, make a cup of tea, journal about what hurts or delights, talk about what’s hard with someone you trust. Take a walk outside if you can, listen to music that uplifts you, take a nap on the couch, read a book, do less and feel more. And if you’re having a wonderful, easy time right now, I’m so happy for you! But for those of us who tend to struggle a little bit extra this time of year, I hope this video feels like a warm hug and a reminder that maybe things are going to be ok, even if they weren’t what you’d hoped, even if you’re struggling. These feelings won’t last forever, and a New Year is just around the corner! The days are only getting brighter from here. If any of this resonates with you and you hope to start 2026 with more self compassion, clarity, and connection to who you really are, I invite you to check out the books I write and self publish every year - only on: R A C H E L P O H L A R T . C O M 🌙❄️ Even if it doesn’t feel like it - you’re going to be ok :) Ok, love you, bye! Rachel #selflovejourney #mindsetshift #wintering #youareenough #hopecore

We’ve just moved through Samhain here in the Southern Hemisphere. A seasonal threshold marking the true turning toward winter. I’ve been feeling the shift deeply lately. Slower mornings, quieter evenings, more reflection, more rest, more nourishment. Nature is changing rhythm… and so are we. As we move deeper into this season, I’m excited to share more around wintering, cyclical living, rituals, herbs, nervous system support, and learning to honour this slower, more inward time of year. #samhain #cyclicalliving #wintering

It’s no joke that this winter has been ROUGH!! From frozen pipes, cold temps, taking care of animals in freezing weather, etc. there were many days I struggled to have JOY…however this winter has truly been character & faith building for me! At the start of our coldest temps in December I was also in the midst of ADVENT…a season of silence & waiting for Christs birth 🌟 So many things were happening all at once as winter emerged and I felt so defeated, but then I remembered the whole point of Advent & Winter as God was quietly whispering “Christmas is Coming” & “Spring Will Come Again”…and Christmas did come, with all the joy! And then January & February winter came again in full blast and I lost the Joy again & the outlook on spring…but then I found myself starting LENT, another season (40 days) of reflection & challenges mirroring Jesus trials and temptations in the desert before he entered into his public ministry. And once again I have been reminded that I’m not alone in my trials, because Jesus (and countless other saints) have gone before me…even in the midst of cold, bleak, and challenging seasons there is still JOY to be found in facing each day as it comes knowing that WINTER is simply a season…that at the end of 40 days, we get day 41👏🏻 not to mention as winter fades, a subsequent season comes after it that is full of such LIFE & JOY 🌹 🍃 🌱 🌼 And while trees are not yet budding and grass is not yet green, and as I wait for spring flowers to bloom…God has blessed me with a reminder that joy and life come again…that reminder, two sweet little lambs we welcomed into our flock🐑🐑 (a month earlier than expected). Their birth was the first glimmer of spring (as lambing season is early spring) and once again I am thankful for seasons & the lessons they teach me (both in life and in God’s beautiful creation) In the challenges and bleakness of this WINTER there is always the HOPE for the first signs of spring❄️ And oh how much less we would appreciate spring if it were not preceded by winter! If you are in a WINTERING season…Spring is coming! #homestead #farmlife #wintering #seasonsoffaith

Wintering Chez AA. For me, the depths of winter are all about burrowing down at home, cosying up by the fire and making hearty dishes. Rejoice in the stillness of the season. From textures to scent, lighting to colour, create a space which invigorates the senses and soothes the soul. #Wintering #HyggeHome #CosySeason #WinterInteriors #InteriorMood #LayeredLiving #DesignForLiving #SlowSeason #HomeVibes #AbigailAhern #MyAAsStyle

Five very good reasons to read Enchantment as we move to the light half of the year. (Some tea spillage may have happened halfway through this video but no writers were harmed ☕️) #wintering #springequinox #enchantment

After my last video of me walking on the sea ice, a few people asked if the pressure ridges move! They absolutely do! This is a video from a few months ago when the ice was a little bit thinner and had more cracks. The swell on this day was reasonably large, and the pressure from the waves was causing the pressure ridges to heave and crack and crumble. While the ice moves up and down and rubs against itself, it causes immense sounds. In this video it sounds like and old squeaky door opening and closing, but at times we hear large bangs and crashes when enormous blocks of ice eventually succumb to the pressure and collapse. There are numerous factors that contribute to the formation of a pressure ridge. Firstly, you need somewhere cold enough for sea ice to form. The sea ice needs to grow thick enough to sustain the weight of more sea ice, and you need wave, tide, wind and current action to force separated pieces of ice together. This happens through the winter and by spring, the pressure ridges become stable enough to walk around. We close the sea ice around December. By that point, it no longer meets our thresholds for walking or driving vehicles on. This means that the team here who are staying late enough, will have about 4 months to play around on the ice. My favourite part of the sea ice is the baby seals. With any luck there will be some pups around in the next few weeks for me to show you! For now, turn your sound up and enjoy the creaking and cracking of our pressure ridges

Happy Winter Solstice!❄️🧣🎧 #wintering #winterarc #audiobookstagram #wintersolstice

We try not to talk too much about the weather here. Is it because weather chat belongs squarely in the realms of safe conversation topics with strangers, your nan and that awkward first date? Partly. Is it because we believe being out there, in the elements, experiencing them all, is part of the beauty of nature and like those Pokemon cards we still deny collecting, we should “”catch them all””? Mostly. While Aus and NZ heat up, things in the UK are starting to get a bit brisk. But this time round, rather than hibernate with pints in the pub for nourishment, why not embrace the slow feeling of winter out in nature? Wintering in a cabin slows down time, and brings you closer to yourself or someone close to you as the world outside becomes a distant hum. It’s not a magic bullet, but it sure feels like a remedy. So, cancel the noise of your calendar and escape to where the air is crisp, the fire crackles, and the only stress is working out how many marshmallows can be considered a nuturitious meal. 📷: @fleurclements 🗺️: Axel, North Wessex Downs AONB, UK 🇬🇧 #unyoked #wintering #cabinlife #nature
