The temperature’s supposed to drop way down tonight, so I’m getting ahead of it. I finally pulled out my magnetic thermal door curtain — one of those little upgrades that makes RV life feel a lot less like survival and a lot more like comfort. It clicks together magnet by magnet, seals the chill out, and keeps the warmth right where I want it. Small routines like this make winter nights feel peaceful. Now to just get one more for my other door, my bedroom was more important tonight lol. #winterized #fulltimerv #drafty

ONE MORE TIP: This doesn’t have to do with keeping the camper warm, but rather keeping the camper dry. ALWAYS have a dehumidifer going in the winter!! Your windows will collect A LOT of moisture as well as the walls and mold will grow so fast! I also have the damprid bags on my amazon showcase under “RV Must Haves” which you can hang around the camper for extra help collecting the moisture. Take it from me, we’ve had mold in every corner of our camper before as well as on clothes, furniture, ect. Just get a dehumidifer!! If you’re new here, hi my name is Tori! We’re spending the winter in Colorado! So that means… winter prep ❄️❄️ We recently finished this project and it has made a HUGE difference already! It was also easier and less expensive than we expected. Here’s a basic rundown - feel free to ask any questions you have! Total cost: about $300 Supplies - mostly purchased from Home Depot 12 styrofoam insulation panels (1 inch) Utility knife (long smooth blade, NOT serrated) HVAC tape Gorilla tape Level or other straight edge Sharpie Measuring tape Exterior paint Paint roller, brush, tape, and pan Due to time constraints and short days (no sun!), we took multiple days for this project but it could have been done in a day or two. We drew out the whole RV on graph paper and measured each section prior to buying supplies. Once we had the insulation boards, we measured and cut one section at a time. This ensured each section fit together well, created the least amount of wasted boards, and made it easy to adjust for variations in terrain. We painted everything as the final step. This wasn’t totally necessary but makes the RV look much nicer! We’re on the river where everyone walks by and we didn’t want to create an eyesore for them. The paint isn’t perfect but it’s better than without ☺️ Our site is covered in large gravel/small rocks so we used this to our advantage. We used the rocks to create a “lip” on each side of the boards. This has significantly cut down on them shifting in the wind. If you are working with flat concrete or dirt, you will need something to support the bottoms (wood or cinder blocks work well). We’ve had a much easier time keeping our RV warm since we added the skirting. We haven’t yet installed any thermometers or heaters under the RV but plan to do that next!
