GETTING IT DONE 💪 Grabbing the 200lb/91kg dumbbells from the rack and walking them to the bench for my working set of 5 reps. How many lifters in history who could bench the 200lb dumbbells could actually carry them from the rack and get them into position without help? Just curious what everyone’s thoughts are? Just because everyone will comment that I didn’t do more reps…this was a working set and not a set of max reps. Top set and back off sets, what are they? For a lot of people, coaches will implement top sets and back off sets in their training programme. Top sets are heavy, intense lifts performed at or near your maximum effort. They challenge you to lift your heaviest weight for a given exercise. 💪 Back-off sets come after your top set. They involve repetitions with a lighter load. A back-off set, when utilised correctly, can really help refine your technique by practising good form. So for example your top set on the lat pull down is 50kg, you'd perform that for 10 reps to failure. Follow this with your back off set reducing the weight around 15% to 42.5kg for 12-15 reps to failure. Make sure enough time has been given after your top set before starting your back-off set.
