Oh Yorkes, we are missing you and all of your beautiful wildlife, like these friendly rays at Point Turton. Have you been? This isn’t us in the water, we like to watch them from the jetty, and if you are wondering, here’s a few things we can tell you about them. We have never been to the Point Turton jetty and not seen these magical creatures. They are very used to people and they come and go and glide around effortlessly. Please don’t feed them, it’s absolutely not the right thing to do. You can swim here. Please don’t approach the rays or try to touch them, just shuffle out of their way. They are generally not scared of you or aggressive. While they are playful, inquisitive and friendly, respect that they are wild animals and they do have a barb (despite many tourist thinking they ‘must be safe’.) I think they call the big one Sally! I’m not sure how old she is, we have known her for a good few years and generally this species and sized ray will live any where from 7-20 years.
