Day 94: Hacking the Yoto Audio Player 🎧🔓 Today I explored the inner workings of the Yoto Audio Player for kids by reading and writing NFC card data using just a smartphone 📱 and an NFC tool. 💡 The idea: You could technically scan Yoto cards in-store and duplicate them onto blank NFC cards 🪪 —either ones you buy separately or the custom ones Yoto provides. If you have Yoto player then you need to know trick! Always have a Make Your Own card attached to your players when you’re out and about! This means that you are able to put any content, purchased or your own playlists, onto this Make Your Own card while you are out and about. We use this by having 4 cards that the kids have chosen themselves and 1 MYO attached to their players using our @oz_printed_creations card holders. ✨ How to create your own cards for the Yoto player from a YouTube playlist ✨ This was created using an iPhone and the Make Your Own Cards from @yotoplay_us 1. Select your favorite read alouds or music from YouTube and save to a playlist. (Click the 3 dots under the video, save to a playlist.) 2. Convert the YouTube videos to mp3 files and save to your phone (one at a time): Copy the link for each video (Click the 3 dots, share, copy link.) In Safari, search mp3 converter and choose any free website. Paste your file and download (your files will be saved to the file app on your phone.) 3. Continue to covert and save each video you want on your card (this is the most time consuming part, but you only have to do it once and it’s saved forever.) 4. Next, open your Yoto app, My Library, select “More” at the top and “Make Your Own.” Select new playlist, add playlist, and give it a name. 5. Next you can select all your saved mp3 files by clicking Upload Audio. Clicking “create” saves your card (you can come back to it later to upload more, delete, or rearrange the audio files.) 6. Once your playlist is ready, select the 3 dots in the top right corner and select “link to a card.” It will direct you to add a blank card to your player & select link. 7. Write on your card or add fun stickers so you know what it is. Enjoy!! All the cards you create will be saved in the Yoto app under the “Make Your Own” folder.
