Nine miles away from Seward, Alaska in a small cove of Resurrection Bay sits 8 completely off-grid yurts called @orcaislandcabins ✨ These yurts are only accessible by boat! We spent 3 nights in Humpy Cove and it was pure magic. The amount of wildlife here is truly incredible—On our last night, we were lucky enough to see a pod of Orcas swim by from the balcony in this video. Our minds are still blown by our stay here! Highly recommend booking a few nights at this off-grid heaven if you are ever in Seward, Alaska! The nightly rental at Orcas Island includes: •An hour boat ride out to the yurts on the Orca Islander and back to the marina on your return date •Private yurt with a full bathroom (compost toilet and shower) & kitchen (no refrigerator so bring a cooler and ice with your food!) with a stove, oven, BBQ, etc •Access to all the toys and boats at Orca Island —paddle boards, kayaks, row boats, fishing gear, wet suits, etc •Group decks with fire pits with a fantastic view of Kenai Fjords National Park in the distance •And, our favorite aspect is how hands off this experience is—no guides, no need to tell anyone you are going somewhere or constantly ask for permission to use anything on the property. Big upgrades happening behind the scenes ✂️⛺️ When we took the yurts down in October ready for our winter break, we knew it was finally time to say goodbye to the original canvases on our 5 Warren Bank yurts. They’ve done us proud. 11 seasons. Thousands of happy stays. And memories going all the way back to our very first guests in 2015. 💛 Now we’re sewing brand new canvases together and giving them the refresh they deserve… and the best bit? I’m not doing it alone. One of the girls who’s worked with us in the farm café at @bennetts_willow_barn since she was 16 is now studying textiles and fashion at university, which means I’ve got a sewing partner who’s much faster and more talented than I’ll ever be 🙌 If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s this: you don’t have to do everything yourself.
