Zamba Kitchen 📍Poonam Apartment, Dattachhaya Tejas Society Kothrud. I decided to spice up my Sunday. Zamba Kitchen has a basic setup with limited menu in starters,Thali and desserts. They serve fish/ chicken/mutton- new setup everything is not available currently. Ordered for #Pomfret_Thali Thali contains solkadhi, tival, small prawns (करंदी) curry, mix salad, beans sabji, sukkat, raw mango oilfree pickle.Option of Indriyani rice/ red rice, pomfret fry and Shira. Unlimited rice, curry and siders. Solkadhi & Tival was good. Curry was coconut based bit thinner but well balanced and authentic. Pomfret fry was sizeable, fresh, crispy fried, no spice rub. Beans and Shira have homely taste. Rest items were satisfying. Overall enjoyable meal. With bill came complimentary ice popsicles and orange candy- a surprise and a welcome gesture. 🤭 Food in Zanzibar you must try 👇🏼 [👋 If you don't know me, my name is Emma. I've lived in Tanzania and been back around 6 times for extended periods. I love it there and also run group trips. Follow if you want to know more about Tanzania!] 🥔 Urojo - a potato and mango soup unique to Zanzibar. It is so much tastier than it sounds 🍕 Zanzibar pizza - not a pizza, more like a stuffed pancake. (Can be made plant based but not vegan as they use ghee to fry them so there will be residue) 🫕 Zanzibar coffee - spiced, similar to Turkish coffee 🌽 Crisped corn, omg so good, but very salty 🍩 Kalmati - a plain doughnut sometimes dipped in syrup. Really good. Usually vegan. 🌱 Ubuyo - spiced baobab seeds (don't eat the seed, just suck it and discard) 🥤 Sugar cane juice 🤤 Then you also get other Tanzanian mainland food that is well worth trying like: 🍛 Wali maharage - rice and beans but the best kind! 🍲 Njegere - Green pea curry 🍛 Choroko - a mung bean coconut curry 🫓 Chapati and chai (savoury pancake and spiced tea) 🍘 Vitumbua - a delicious naturally vegan coconut doughnut 🌽 Maindi - roasted corn on the cob 😍 I COULD GO ON. Like seriously, give Tanzanian food its flowers, it is so good. What would you try first? P.s. wait till the end for the funniest BTS quote - I had no idea he would say that 😂
