“നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തെ ചുറ്റിപറ്റി നിൽക്കുന്ന ആളുകളിൽ ഒരാളെങ്കിലും നമ്മളെ രഹസ്യമായി പ്രണയിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്, എന്തെങ്കിലും കാരണങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് അതവർ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നില്ല എന്ന് മാത്രം....” . . . . #ramcoanandi #akilpdharmajan #malayalam #books #book #love #ram #a #dcbooks

Much like asking a parent which one of their children they like the most, it is as difficult to rank all the books I’ve read by my favourite author. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of them, with the slight exception of The Gambler. Maybe it wasn’t the right book at the right time, but I found it to be quite average for Dostoyevsky’s standards. I might need to revisit it in the future. What’s your favourite book by Dostoyevsky? _________________________ #bookstagram #dostoyevski #classicliterature #bookrecommendations #russianliterature #booksbooksbooks #ranking #tbrpile #booktok #reading #readingcommunity #booklover

How to read difficult books: A complete guide... Okay on a serious note, in our modern lives we have an unending stream of information available to us. For readers, this can be a wonderful way to connect with other readers, find out about new and interesting books, and of course, do deep dives on critical analysis. Almost every "classic" from the Greeks to the 21st century now has a mountain of peripheral writing and education to go along with it. There's no doubt that reading guides, lectures, podcasts, and the like have made these works more accessible and understandable for many readers. HOWEVER... A trend I've seen popping up over and over again is paralysis by analysis. Folks who spend a lot of time investigating which works they should read before the book they actually want to read, or searching obsessing over the best translations, or committing hours to reading reviews of guides to assess which is the best one, or sometimes, simply just being too intimidated by a book to pick it up. But consider for a moment that when challenging books like James Joyce's Ulysses, or Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow were published, there was no internet. Most people simply walked into a store, saw these books sitting on a shelf, thought they sounded interesting, and took them home to read. I'm not saying that you shouldn't use reading guides, or do any leg work, but you should at least take care to not let these things get in the way of your reading, and to accept the fact that you might not understand most of what you read on the first pass. Most great books are meant to be read more than once anyway. . . . #literature #classiclit #reading

🌳 Buying and hoarding books obviously isn't going to save the planet. I especially don't support overconsumption. People having 5 copies of the same book or more books on their TBR than their Stack of already read books. I don't want to play moral police or discourage anyone! I too am guilty of having a bookshelf and buying a lot of books. However here are some ways all of us could improve: 🌳read more eBooks! EBooks itself (like a Kindle) are obviously more damaging in production than a few pages of paper, so I'd recommend using an old tablet or phone. But after a certain amount of books a Kindle might be more environmentally friendly than buying physical copies every time 🌱borrow books! I'm sure some of you have bookish friends in real life too! If you mentally combine your bookshelves you have double the books! No need to buy them anymore:) 🌲buy secondhand! There's no better way to save the planet than this! Use preloved items instead of buying new books. There are amazing websites where you can get popular books for a cheap price! 🪴get a library card! Libraries can have soo many great books! It's pretty cheap and good for the environment! 🌵don't throw away! Rather gift it, donate or sell it. Someone might appreciate it, even if you want to get rid of that book. ☘️DIY it Some of the pages have a coffee stain? You can use the other pages for a fun DIY project. There are tons of those on the Internet. 🌴recycle If you really need to throw it away, at least recycle it! Paper bins are not just a decoration
