🕹️🕹️ last night we went and checked out one of YEG’s newest hot spots — @activatecanada in South Edmonton Common! And man oh man, we left sweaty, tired, and absolutely looking forward to going back again! I’m SO excited I got to cross this off my fall bucket list since I’ve been wanting to go since I first heard about it on TikTok in late 2021! Imagine this: part video game, part puzzle, part drama of a time limit game, and a killer workout all in one. There is no doubt about it — you’ll be sweating minutes into the first game and be wondering why you didn’t come sooner. You’re the active game piece — you’re physically running, jumping, throwing, and touching various buttons and controls throughout each of the themed rooms while mentally solving puzzles and games. The levels start easy and as you pass them they increase in difficulty. It takes a bit of time to get the hang of some of the games, but the fast paced challenges keep you on your toes (literally) and relying on good communication with your teammates to succeed. It’s really all the best parts of an escape room, video game and workout combo! I knew it would be a workout, but I didn’t expect to be out of breath and dripping in sweat. 🥵 I loved it! Each slot is 75 minutes, which is more than enough time to try all of the rooms out (we played in all of the 9 rooms, and many more than once!). You’re just playing with your group, and there’s a “wait list” of sorts if someone is in a room you want to go in (but it sucks when you’re in a groove and you can’t continue!). I assumed you get one or two of the rooms during your time slot, but I love that you can freely move between fast paced games where you are running around and slower chill ones (like basketball hoops) to catch your breath too. Overall, I’ll 10000% go back, soon! This was probably one of the most fun nights I’ve had in such a long time — it’s definitely harder with only 3 people (the minimum participants) but we had so much fun we couldn’t stop talking about it afterwards! At $25 per person for 75 minutes of play, it’a definitely worth adding to your “Plot Girl Fall” list too! 🟩🟥🟦🟥🟩 #enterthegame
