Peripheral adaptions such a hypertrophy, titin-based stiffness, fascicle length, tendon stiffness, etc.. don’t require much volume at all for maintenance (despite popular belief). For example, a single rep of overload eccentrics 2x/ week is likely plenty to maintain eccentric based adaptions. This is my main gripe with common S&C programming is overdoing it volume-wise in the offseason and then neglecting the qualities you built allowing them to completely dissipate in-season.

PLEASE SHARE FOR AWARENESS 🙏 As a psychologist, I’m really trying to bring my voice to this. Over my career, I’ve seen many people with (natural) complex traumatic stress responses from (unnatural) environments. Yet, they’re not taught to understand their behavior as adaptions. Even worse, their trauma is often invalidated. Or told it’s part of a “normal” childhood. Without awareness that what’s normal in culture is highly dysfunctional and sometimes destructive. It’s clear we are suffering. It’s time to stop pretending and denying. Complex trauma is not recognized in the diagnostic manual. It’s so important to give people self understanding and hope. To know that there IS healing. There’s more to life than diagnosing and telling people they have no agency over their lives. We have a collective issue we don’t talk about. We have adults who: -can’t build healthy relationships -who please so much, they abandon themselves in the process -who are filled with anger and repressed rage -who sabotage their partnerships -who continue to go into cycles of stress and chaos because it’s all they know -who feel so depressed and overwhelmed for VALID -who are so hypervigilant and overstimulated they’re stuck in survival mode Please educate yourself. Advocate for you, your family, and your community’s health. Use the resources in this video (if you’re called) to start your healing process. May we break the generational cycles #selfhealers

🦽 NEW TRICK 🦽 Yesterday I had another amazing opportunity to work with @mbnewadventures again ❤️ This time, I was able to visit @sadlers_wells and use one of their studios for the day too which was an extra bonus! I’ll be sharing our creations soon, but I’ve been worrying about how my adaptions might look because I have to often have to simplify more now to suit my health. Yesterday, I had a good talk to myself and decided I could still bring plenty to the table. And, for the bits I could manage, well I’d just give it my all. So, with a studio session in the morning, this happened. Huge thank you to @kaasam_aziz for being the hype man I needed and helping with absolutely everything. The support I had was faultless and you’re just a gem 💎 Thank you to @hollyalanalowery for all the extra hours as carer, especially when we are down in the team.
