Loved seeing that these Christmas chocolates in Aldi are good quality chocolate! No palm oil and cocoa solids of 33% which is what good quality milk chocolate should be! So many people reach for Cadbury’s on autopilot as it’s the brand we’ve all grown up on but sadly as I’ve said many times before the quality of their chocolate today is just not what it used to be. Long gone are the days of “a glass and a half of full cream milk” which used to be Cadbury’s slogan, now it’s made with palm oil and such low cocoa solids (only 20%) that it can no longer be called milk chocolate in the EU. Cadbury’s is such low quality chocolate 👎 So instead it’s great to see options like this from Aldi which is much much better quality milk chocolate! They don’t use palm oil to make manufacturing cheaper and the cocoa solids are what milk chocolate should be - 33%! These are a fab find for Christmas chocolates, same for the gold coins! ✨ Is it just me or does it feel like Easter eggs have been in the shops since January 🙈 this still feels early but I spotted and wanted to share with you all in case you had any Easter parties coming up! Some great Easter finds in Aldi which was brilliant to see! I couldn’t see any dark chocolate eggs which I thought they had but perhaps they’re just sold out of those! But for milk chocolate eggs - good quality milk chocolate should be made with cocoa butter and milk and not palm oil, and should have minimum 30% cocoa solids! Unfortunately the likes of Cadbury’s and Nestle are trying to maximise profits by using really cheap ingredients like palm oil and low cocoa solids 👎 I think it’s very sad that Cadbury’s is not the same quality that it used to be… once Mondelez International bought the company they’ve been putting profit over people by making cheaper and cheaper chocolate using palm oil and lower cocoa solids so it’s not even technically allowed to be called milk chocolate in the EU with only 20% cocoa solids! All of these options in Aldi are made with no palm oil and contain between 30 and 33% cocoa solids which is so brilliant to see. Even their milk chocolate bunny which is only €1.99 contains 30% cocoa solids and no palm oil 🙌 after recording I noticed they also do a specially selected Gold chocolate bunny which is similar to the Lindt chocolate bunny and also contains 30% cocoa solids and no palm oil, so both bunnies are great options for Easter. I also love seeing Aldi stocking a small local Chocolatier Roisin’s chocolate egg. I’ve tried their 70% dark chocolate before and it was gorgeous!
